When it comes to walking miles and miles around Disney World, it’s SUPER important to make sure you have the best shoes that work for you.
Some of the most popular shoes on the market are HOKAs and New Balances, and then there comes the question: how do you decide what works best for you? Well, that’s a question only you can answer, since everyone’s feet are built differently (what works for a family member may not work for you!), but we’ve had NUMEROUS members of our team try out tons of different shoes in the parks, specifically New Balances and HOKA shoes, and when it comes down to which is best, our findings may surprise you.
New Balances
New Balances are a VERY popular shoe, and for good reason! These are around the same price point as HOKA shoes, if not a little bit on the more affordable side, so for someone who wants a great shoe without breaking the bank, this is a good way to go. There are tons of different styles to go with to make sure you find the ones that fit best for you.
While these held up just fine during our trip and fortunately didn’t hurt our feet at all, we could have done with a little more cushioning to help us out as we got further into our trip. Our reporter wears her New Balances all the time at home and loves them dearly, but when it comes to Disney World, we do feel there are better shoes out there to make walking around for that long easier.
HOKAs
Yes, that means that, in this debate, HOKAs win out once again! We know, we know, you’re probably tired of hearing about it, especially because these shoes are some of the most expensive on the market, but when we say these are sorta like walking on clouds, we MEAN it.
Again, HOKAs have numerous different styles out there, so one type won’t fit all types of feet (that’s partly why we recommend heading into a store in person to try them out; that way, you can feel them in real time), but nearly all of them have that incredible padding on the bottom that gives them a certain lightness when walking around the parks that other shoes just don’t give you.
Yes, they’re expensive, but in our experience, they’re totally worth the cost and last a LONG time. In fact, if you look around Disney World at what shoes Cast Members are wearing, who are on their feet for hours at a time, you’ll likely find HOKAs everywhere!
We’ll continue to bring you all the latest Disney news and reviews to help make your trips the absolute best they can be, so stay tuned to DFB!
