Okay, so when you go to Disney World as much as we do, you’re bound to have some regrets. And let me tell you, we have a LOT of regrets.
We’ve had trips where we’ve had to learn things the hard way (for example, we’ve learned what shoes NOT to wear to Disney World). We’ve had instances where we didn’t make those dining reservations we really wanted and missed out on eating at certain restaurants. However, one of our biggest regrets revolves around “wet stuff.” Let’s talk about it.
Okay, it’s inevitable. EVERYONE knows that Florida weather is MOODY, and sudden rainstorms happen ALL the time, and your odds of getting caught in one are 99.9%. It’s okay, it happens ALL the time.
But…here’s the thing. Long after the rainstorm, it stays with you because everything is now soaked, including your socks, shoes, pants, undergarments, park bag…EVERYTHING. And there is nothing fun about walking around in wet clothes with a wet bag for the rest of the day. It’s downright awful.
So if you don’t want to walk around in drenched clothes all day, you might want to pack an extra pair of clothes, just in case. Even if you’re wearing t-shirts and quick-dry shorts, you’re still going to have to deal with wet socks, so at least stash a pair of dry socks away in your day bag.
Now, a lot of the DFB team swear by sturdy sandals during the summer, like Chacos or Tevas. Then you don’t have to worry about the wet sock situation that will literally ruin your day. But if sandals are just not your thing, pack those extra socks in some Ziploc bags so they stay dry even if your bag gets wet. Then you can store the wet socks in the Ziploc bag so they won’t get stuff in your bag wet!
Speaking of Ziploc bags, just bring extras. We keep at least three or four in our park bag at ALL times. First, they’re great for storing your phones and tablets in if a rainstorm suddenly hits. But also…well…you can also put leftover snacks in them (or snacks you buy now, but plan on eating later). Ziploc bags are something you don’t know you need, but trust us, YOU DO.
However, you might just want to invest in a waterproof day bag before your trip. Or at least spray down your bag with a waterproofing spray.
So don’t be a victim of “wet stuff,” like we’ve been. All it takes is a little foresight and preparation. We’ll also keep you updated with our best tips and tricks for visiting Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
