When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. However, one of the best parks as a whole for dining? Well, that’s gotta be Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
We recently stopped by Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom, one of our absolute favorite lounges on all of Disney World property, to show you just why it’s 100% worth a visit. You may not think it’s for you, but we’re here to prove you wrong!
Atmosphere
One of the things that makes this lounge so unique and beloved is how tucked away it is. In fact, it’s so unassuming from the outside that many people walk right by it. Despite being right next to Tiffins (which is also fantastic), it’s quiet, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing.
All seating is outside, but covered, and you’ll get gorgeous views of the water as you dine. Truly, if you’re looking for a little piece of paradise on your Animal Kingdom day, this is the place to go.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
The menu mostly consists of different drinks, as many different lounges do, but we do very much enjoy that there are also Mocktails and Zero-Proof Cocktails on the menu. And they’re genuinely exciting, too, not just flavored lemonade!
As for the dining options on the menu, there aren’t too many, but they rarely let us down. You can find Naan, Crispy Chicken Wings, Wild Mushroom Dumplings, Pork Ribs, Grilled Beef Kefta, and more. We can’t forget their famous Churros!
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Dalang’s Delight, which is made with STARR African Rum, Batavia-Arrack van Oosten, Orange Liqueur, Mountain Berry Tea, Simple Syrup, and Lemon Juice for $17.50.
This is a super refreshing drink! The Mountain Berry tea comes through very strongly with a berry aftertaste, which pairs well with the spices present in a lot of the dishes here. It helps to cool your mouth down a bit as you dine, without impeding on the flavors!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Naan and Dip Trio for $17, which is Warm Onion Naan paired with Roasted Garlic Hummus, Roasted Eggplant and Beetroot Spread, Roasted Red Pepper and Walnut Muhammara.
The naan is perfectly cooked, making it soft, tender, and perfectly pillowy. The hummus is classic, but done very well, and we love the difference in texture thanks to the fried chickpeas, but it’s very garlic-forward, so you’ve gotta be a fan of that flavor!
The beet is the star of the show with the roasted eggplant and beetroot dip, and we loved the extra pop of flavor from the chopped chives and pomegranate seeds. It was a palate cleanser, in a way, but a delicious one, at that.
The Red Pepper and Walnut Muhammara is the spiciest of the dips, but we loved the way the walnuts added an earthy, crunchy addition. The more you eat of it, the more the heat grows, so keep that in mind! We’d absolutely eat all of them without complaint and get this dish over and over again, but if you struggle with spice, beware of that final dip.
Next, we grabbed the Grilled Beef Kefta for $17, which is a Middle Eastern-inspired Beef Skewer, Harissa Hummus, Herb-Honey Yogurt, Pickled Red Onions, and Naan. The beef is on the saltier side, but still beautifully seasoned. The herb honey yogurt sauce helps keep it from being too salty and helps calm down a bit of the spice as well. The harissa hummus was delicious and not too spicy, and while it was good, it wasn’t our favorite dish of the day. This was largely due to the fact that the naan at the bottom of the dish was saturated with hummus and meat juice, making it soggy. We would have preferred for it to be served on the side with a side of hummus, to enjoy it more as a side.
Finally, we grabbed the Churros for $11, which also comes with Vanilla Sauce and a Blueberry dipping sauce. They’re soft, crunchy, and are easily the best churros on Disney World property. They’re covered in so much cinnamon sugar that it gets practically everywhere, but it’s totally worth it!
They’re so soft and practically melt in your mouth, we could get them every day and never get tired of them. The blueberry dip complemented the churro so well, adding a bit of freshness and lightness to the dish, and the vanilla dip was almost like melted ice cream (flavor-wise) in the best way.
We recommend dipping your churros in both sauces, just to get all those flavors together!
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want a relaxing, calm dining experience. This truly is a step away from the craziness of a park day — if that’s what you need, this is where to go.
- You’re searching for the best churros on property. It sounds silly, but we would absolutely get a reservation here JUST for these churros — they’re that good!
- You’re looking for some more adventurous options. The menu here isn’t super large, and a lot of the options do have some spice, so if you want to venture out, this is a great way to do so!
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re a pickier eater. Picky eaters may only like the churros here, as a lot of the drinks and dining options are more involved, so that’s something to keep in mind!
- You need a menu with something for everyone…beyond churros. The menu here isn’t super large, meaning that it may be tough to find something for everyone in a large group.
- You want an upbeat, exciting meal. If you want a meal that’s going to be entertaining, we recommend checking out Tusker House for their character dining meal, or other character dining on property — relaxing here may make you want a nap in the best way, which may not be what you’re looking for.
Overall
This spot rarely lets us down, and we often recommend it to absolutely everyone we can. You can enjoy delicious food with a stunning atmosphere — what could be better?
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
