In case you forgot, Disney is building a theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. While Disney hasn’t shared many details, the Chief Executive Officer of Miral, the company working with Disney to build the park, has shared an update.
According to Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi’s LinkedIn post, the two companies recently met to discuss next steps.
Al Zaabi met with Tasia Filippatos, who recently became President and Managing Director of Disney Parks International, in London. The LinkedIn post said, “Tasia brings with her a remarkable depth of global experience and a proven track record in shaping world-class destination experiences, underpinned by a strong strategic vision for the future of the industry.”
The post also said, “Our discussions were both insightful and forward-looking, reinforcing the importance of strong international partnerships in driving innovation and excellence across the industry. As we continue to advance our collaboration on #DisneyAbuDhabi on #YasIsland, we at Miral are excited about the opportunities ahead to create a truly iconic destination for the #UAE and the region, that brings #Disney storytelling to life in new and inspiring ways.”
This theme park will be the seventh Disney theme park and the first in the United Arab Emirates. Miral has worked with companies to build other theme parks in the area, and this time, Miral will fully develop and build the new resort while Disney and its Imagineers will lead creative design and operational oversight.
In the initial announcement, Al Zaabi said the park will be the “most innovative” and “most advanced” theme park yet. It will also be an indoor theme park, and if the entire park is planned indoors, it will be a first for Disney. The park will also “combine Disney’s iconic stories, characters, and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture,” according to Disney.
We’ll continue to share updates about the park here, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more.
