There are so many new projects in Disney World right now that you might have forgotten about a brand new hotel coming in 2027. I know we might be distracted by Pueblo Esperanza and Monstropolis, but there’s literally a new hotel, Lakeshore Lodge, and we can only dream about the new rooms, food, pools, and all the details to discover.
It will be a Disney Vacation Club resort located close to Disney’s Fort Wilderness and “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” Ready to see the newest look?
Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we’ve gotten new aerial looks of the resort, and it’s definitely coming along. You can see the pool and what we believe is a lazy river being built. There’s still a long way to go; the majority of the building is done, but outdoor work still needs to be completed.
It’s expected to have around 900 rooms, and to put that in perspective, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has 867 rooms. The main area in front looks like a parking lot (and seems to be where the project’s construction workers have been parking). We haven’t been given many details, like the type of restaurants or any other updates, but we’re pretty excited for it to open so we can check it all out for ourselves. While it is set to open in 2027, we haven’t received an exact opening date, and we wouldn’t exactly be surprised if it got pushed back.
For transportation, we believe there will be boat routes, and they have just installed bus shelters. We’re hoping this boat takes us straight to Magic Kingdom, and buses will help you get to the other parks and Disney Springs, too. This is technically a Magic Kingdom area resort, and it even looks like there will be A-frame waterfront cabins. Doesn’t that sound serene?

This Resort has destroyed the look and feel of Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. I don’t know why they had to build this resort right on top of Fort Wilderness. Seeing this towering building right behind Trails End and Crocketts Tavern is such an eyesore! We have been staying at Fort Wilderness since 1990 and are very upset as to what it looks like now. Not to mention they have taken away most of the beach and built the A-Frames right next to the boat dock. Are they planning on closing down Fort Wilderness in the near future?
An opening in 2027 could mean late 2027. Several recent DVC properties have had openings in November or December. At this point that’s 20-21 months away so nearly 2 years. I think they will easily make that based on the current construction.
