FIRST LOOK Inside the Changed Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom

A popular Magic Kingdom ride has been closed since the end of last summer, and we’re eager to ride it again!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is set to reopen on April 8th with a BUNCH of changes. We’ll be getting new blasters, new ride scenes, a new character, and more. And ahead of the reopening, Disney has shared the first look inside the ride!

Disney Parks shared a peek inside the ride in a video on Instagram and TikTok! The video starts with a POV of boarding the ride vehicle and passing Buddy, the robot, in the new opening scene, who is teaching you how to play the game. How helpful, Buddy!

Then, we got a peek at the NEW handheld blasters. Unlike the old version of the ride, you can remove these from their holster for better aiming. They come in red and green.

After that, we get a look at some of the ride scenes with the new, interactive targets. You aim your blaster dot at the middle of the target, then shoot. When you hit the target, it’ll light up, and you’ll know you scored!

The video notes that there are specialty targets throughout the ride — if they look different than the regular ones, aim for them! These targets will score you MORE points!

And finally, we got a sneak peek at the new scoreboard! It looks like the requirements have changed slightly to become a Galactic Hero. Previously, this ride maxed out at 999,999, but now you can score more than 1 million! You’ll have to earn at least ONE point more to make the threshold of Galactic Hero, now. (This scoring system is more similar to the Disneyland version of the ride.)
