We’re SO thrilled we got to set sail on the Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage!
That’s right! We flew to Singapore to hop on this new Disney Cruise Line ship. It’s the first to sail from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre and go throughout Southeast Asia. We’ve explored everything there is to see, do, and eat on this ship, and right now, we’re taking you with us to Navigator’s Club Restaurant.
Navigator’s Club Restaurant is the sister restaurant to Hollywood Spotlight Club, so you’ll also experience theming around the golden age of Hollywood here. You’ll find similar vibes here, as well as similar menu options.
This restaurant is themed after the golden age of Hollywood and features appearances by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck, along with live musical entertainment during the rotational dining dinner. It’s also open for breakfast and lunch.
We stopped by for both breakfast and lunch and are bringing you our full review! To kick things off for breakfast, we had the Peanut Butter and Jelly Typhoon, which is on the Kids Menu.
This was essentially one giant, thick pancake with peanut butter and jelly swirled on top. It was sweet and comforting, and we think something that kids would definitely enjoy (we know we did!). The side of fruit tasted fresh, while the chicken sausage was okay. It didn’t have much flavor but did have a nice snap to it. The hash brown was slightly undercooked, but still crunchy and salty.
Also for breakfast, we grabbed the Kimchi Fried Rice. This is served with an over-easy egg on top, and we LOVED it! The rice was cooked perfectly — they definitely know how to make rice on the Disney Adventure. There was a really good amount of kimchi in this, which added an interesting texture and some heat beyond the normal “Disney spice.” The egg was perfectly cooked with a nice, runny yolk that mixed well with the rice.
For lunch, we ordered the New England Clam Chowder. This wasn’t the BEST clam chowder we’ve ever had, but it was decent — a little bit thinner than what you’d normally expect. Luckily, it was chock full of pieces of clam, potatoes, and herbs. It was flavorful, but it won’t knock your socks off if you’ve had clam chowder in the past.
We also had the Chicken Mulligatawny Soup. We LOVED this soup! It had a great, rich flavor and was loaded with lentils, which made it nice and hearty. There were large pieces of chicken, and it was super warm and comforting — we wish it had been entree-sized!
Next, we had the Chicken Salad. This was pretty basic, but it was actually kind of refreshing considering all the other rich foods and flavors we’ve had on this ship. It was pretty fresh, and the chicken itself was well-cooked and moist, but didn’t have as much seasoning as we would have liked. We ordered a balsamic vinaigrette as our dressing, but they ended up bringing out tartar sauce, oddly enough! Probably a language barrier thing, but overall this was fine if you’re craving a salad.
And finally, we ordered the Hainanese Chicken and Rice. This is a popular Southeast Asian dish with poached chicken and fragrant rice cooked in chicken broth. It’s served with chili sauce, ginger-garlic sauce, and soy sauce.
The chicken was poached well and SO juicy, and the rice was perfect — soft, not overcooked, and really flavorful from the chicken broth. The ginger-garlic sauce was light and refreshing, the chili sauce had a real kick to it, and the soy sauce was perfectly salty with a nice umami flavor. The bok choy served under the chicken was nice and tender, but not overly mushy — it was a nice vegetal addition to the overall dish.
We really enjoyed everything we ate here, but that’s been par for the course on the Disney Adventure so far!
