Packing for a Disney park day sounds simple until you’re standing at the bag check, realizing you brought something you’re not allowed to have.

Disney’s bag rules are no joke, and Cast Members at the park entrances are absolutely enforcing them in 2026. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned annual passholder, it’s worth taking a few minutes before you head out to make sure your bag is good to go. We’ve rounded up the key rules Disney has on the books right now so you can pack smarter and skip the stress at security.

There’s a Size Limit on Bags

First things first: if your bag is massive, it’s not getting through the gates. Disney doesn’t allow suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks (wheeled or not) that are larger than 24 inches long x 15 inches wide x 18 inches high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) at any of its theme parks or water parks. So if you were thinking about rolling in a giant hard-sided cooler or a piece of carry-on luggage, that’s a hard no.

It’s also worth knowing that Disney straight-up reserves the right to turn away any bag, parcel, or item it deems inappropriate, and to handle any unattended bags however it sees fit. So even if your bag technically fits the size requirements, cast members still have the final call.

Items You Can’t Bring In Your Bag (Or At All)

Beyond the size restrictions, Disney has a list of prohibited items that aren’t allowed in the parks, period. Since most of these are things you’d typically toss in a bag, it’s important to know what’s on the list before you start packing. Here’s what you can’t bring:

• Large tripods and selfie sticks
• Folding chairs
• Suitcases and coolers
• Loose ice
• Glass containers (small containers like baby food jars are okay, but larger glass containers are out, and note that glass is permitted at Disney Resort hotels)
• Wagons and trailers
• Weaponry of any kind
• Masks that cover the entire face
• Alcohol, marijuana, or illegal substances
• Artificial noise makers
• Remote-control toys
• Other suspicious items

Animal Kingdom (heads-up): If you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom specifically, there are two additional things you can’t bring into that park that are allowed elsewhere. Balloons and plastic straws are both prohibited at Animal Kingdom, so keep that in mind when you’re packing for a day at that park.

What We’d Recommend Packing Instead

Now that you know what NOT to bring, here are a few of our favorite bag essentials that we’d never show up to a Disney park without.

Stay hydrated with this Water Bottle

Staying hydrated at Disney is non-negotiable, and this Owala water bottle makes it so easy and so cute.
