A month ago, Universal Orlando Resort made an announcement that had us jumping out of our seats. They announced that Universal Studios would be getting a new Fast and Furious roller coaster!

The new attraction is called Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift, and it will be replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which closed last year. The new ride isn’t set to debut until next year, in 2027; however, we are already seeing aerial photos of construction taking place at the park, and we can’t help but be excited. You can see the Hard Rock Cafe, as well as the entrance to Universal Studios. It’s pretty crazy seeing the area that used to have Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit just completely empty.

We got another angled view of the construction next to the waterfront. You can see the narrow pathway that follows along CityWalk.

We also got some photos of rectangular concrete forms at the construction site of the upcoming attraction. It was noted by @bioreconstuct that it seems like it’s where a sliding track switch would be.

This new Fast and Furious ride is completely different than the one Florida currently has, which is Fast and Furious Supercharged. It’s a high-speed coaster featuring 360-degree drifting vehicles and a 170-foot vertical spike. This same roller coaster is actually coming to Universal Hollywood in 2026. We were hoping we’d get the same experience when we heard about it, and our dream has come true!

With the new roller coaster coming, Fast & Furious Supercharged will actually be permanently closing in 2027. So not only is Universal getting a new roller coaster, but you’d think it’s safe to assume a new attraction will be replacing Fast & Furious Supercharged. That makes us wonder what could be coming to that space! The ride really wasn’t that popular, so we’re excited to see what else could be coming.
