It’s certainly no secret that we’re pretty passionate about dining at Disney World. We are Disney Food Blog, after all. For most table service restaurants around the parks and beyond, you’ll want to book an Advanced Dining Reservation (or ADR).
Recently, though, we’ve been seeing some changes to how you book dining reservations in the My Disney Experience app, including updates to the allergy section of the booking process. And now, it looks like another change has hit the Advance Dining Reservations section of the Disney World app. Here’s what we know.
Typically, when you go to make Advanced Dining Reservations in the My Disney Experience app, everything is done within the app itself — no external browsers needed. You’re able to book the reservation entirely within the app, without needing to re-enter your password in a pop-up browser.
However, we recently noticed that it appears to no longer be the case. When we went to make an Advanced Dining Reservation in the Disney World app, we clicked on “Check Dining Availability” like we normally do, but instead of being taken to a new screen within the app…
…we were taken to a different browser window altogether and prompted to choose our party size there.
Similarly, we were able to continue making an ADR, but everything was now being done from our browser instead of the My Disney Experience app.
While this might not seem like a huge deal, it can be annoying if you’re trying to quickly make a reservation — especially because most of the time, you’re forced to sign into your Disney account again in the browser, which can cost you precious time. We’re also not sure if this is a permanent change or if it’s just a glitch with the Disney World app at the moment.
When making or modifying Park Pass Reservations in the My Disney Experience app, it’s not done within the app itself — when you click to Make or Modify Park Reservations, a new browser window opens, and you have to finish making those selections there. Disney may have updated the Advanced Dining Reservation process to match the Park Pass Reservation one, but we’re hoping that’s not the case.
We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates to the Disney World app and Advanced Dining Reservations. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

So pretty soon you’ll have to call 407-WDW-DINE to make ADRs……. LMAO. WDW is literally going backwards under D’Amaro…. So of course promote him!
The recent changes on the app are annoying! I used to be able to click on “Future Plans” and see an overview. Now, you have to select the date, which I don’t want just one day, I want the overview. Yes, I have noticed the change to dining on the app. Another problem is people in groups sometimes dine alone. You can’t select ONE for a reservation. When I do nothing returns, therefore I have to select TWO in order to book a dining reservation.
