The number of dining options at Disney World can feel overwhelming. While that means that you can find just about anything you are craving, it can also feel daunting to narrow down the list to decide where to eat. That is why we are here! We have eaten at every single Disney World restaurant, and we aren’t stopping there. We are constantly revisiting restaurants and trying new food, so you always have the most up-to-date information on dining at Disney World.
We recently stopped by House of Blues at Disney Springs for lunch, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here!
Atmosphere
House of Blues isn’t just a restaurant (although that is why we are here today), but also an entertainment venue that hosts a variety of performers. You can find live music at The Front Porch almost every evening, inside the restaurant, and at performances in the Music Hall.
Now, we want to make sure you realize that the House of Blues at Disney Springs isn’t the only House of Blues. You can find numerous House of Blues locations across the country in Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and more. So, if you are looking to dine at a restaurant unique to Disney World, you will want to pass on House of Blues. However, if you are looking for a fun environment with live music and a large menu, House of Blues could be a good choice.
We stopped by for lunch, and the restaurant was relatively empty. There also wasn’t any live music (but you can check the House of Blues website to find out when it is happening!). However, it still has a fun vibe, and we loved looking at all the decorations throughout the restaurant. You can even find the Blues Brothers inside the restaurant!
We checked in at the host stand, and we were led to our table. Now, let’s take a look at what is on the menu here!
Menu
House of Blues has a pretty extensive menu, including lots of appetizers.
A couple of options for salads.
You can also choose from a variety of mains, such as Shrimp N’ Grits or Cajun Chicken Pasta.
Or, you can choose from sandwiches and burgers, such as the HOB Smash Burger or the Shrimp Po’Boy.
There are also side options and a variety of desserts, such as Bread Pudding (a DFB fave!) and Key Lime Pie.
There are also options for the kiddos!
There is also an extensive selection of drinks, including refreshers, which are non-alcoholic drink options.
There are also plenty of cocktails to choose from, like the Green Gator Cocktail or the Espresso Martini.
You can also get sparkling, white, or rosé wines.
Plus, there are also some red wines to choose from.
Last but not least, there are also plenty of beer options to choose from!
And now, onto the main event!
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Green Gator Cocktail for $16. It is made with Siesta Key Toasted Coconut Rum, Midori Melon Liqueur, pineapple, orange, and mint. It is served in a gator souvenir cup!
We have to say that the color is a bit off-putting; it reminded us of murky swamp water. However, even though it may not be the best color, we enjoyed this drink.
It was light, fruity, and well-balanced. The alcohol is not super prominent, which makes it easy to sip on. You would probably like this drink if you are a fan of light, fruity cocktails.
Now, let’s take a look at the eats!
Eats
First up, we started with the Mac & Cheese Skillet for $12. It is made with a four-cheese sauce and topped with toasted breadcrumbs. This skillet was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with a super satisfying cheese pull. We thought the pasta was slightly over al dente, but not in an unpleasant way, and we definitely devoured this dish!
The breadcrumbs added a lovely crunchy texture, although we definitely wish there were a bit more breadcrumbs on top. The mac and cheese is finished with a bit of parsley on top, which adds a great freshness to the dish. It was a bit saucier than the last time we had this dish, which could be a positive or negative depending on your mac and cheese preferences.
We grabbed the Shrimp N’ Grits for $26. This is sautéed shrimp with chipotle cream sauce and chives, served with a crispy cotija cheese grit cake. We were pleasantly surprised by this dish! The dish had two stars: the delicious shrimp and the deep-fried grit cake. The shrimp was well-cooked and complemented the other elements of the dish. The grit cake is made with deep-fried mozzarella, resulting in a super crunchy cake.
We tasted black pepper with each bite, and the sauce is rich and creamy. The sauce clung wonderfully to the components.
The spice slowly builds as you eat this dish, so if you aren’t a fan of spicy food, you might want to skip this dish. With a huge portion, you definitely won’t leave hungry if you order this dish!
Next up, we tried the BBQ Bacon Smash Burger for $21. This burger is made with double patties, a brioche bun, cheddar cheese, applewood bacon, crispy onions, and Memphis BBQ sauce. The various toppings add great layers of flavor. It features tangy barbecue sauce, crispy onion strings, and smoky applewood bacon.
The cheese does get a bit lost amongst the other toppings, though. The bun was toasted, which helped to make the overall burger feel more stable with all the toppings. It is served with a side of fries that were nice and crispy.
Finally, for dessert, we grabbed the Bread Pudding for $16. The bread pudding serves two people and features bourbon butter and toffee sauce. This is a favorite here at DFB, so of course, we needed to try it again to see if it still tastes as good as we remember!
We are happy to report that it is still delicious! Although you will definitely want to bring at least a friend or two to conquer this dessert. It is ooey gooey perfection that will be living in our dreams for at least a few days. We got an end piece that was caramelized to perfection.
The pudding is soaked in a creamy custard, then topped with bourbon butter and toffee sauce. While this is definitely a sweet dessert, the bourbon butter adds a bit of balance. The toffee sauce is flavorful, and we appreciated that there was enough to have a bit on every bite.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You are a music lover or want to experience live music. The walls are covered in music memorabilia, and you will also find paintings and sculptures from over 60 Delta-region artists. Plus, House of Blues hosts live music in the restaurant, on The Front Porch, and in the Music Hall.
- You want to dine on Southern comfort food. From the Mac & Cheese Skillet to the Shrimp N’ Grits to Bread Pudding, we enjoyed chowing down on Southern fare at House of Blues.
- You are in Disney Springs without a reservation. Generally, it is fairly easy to snag a reservation here or walk up and be seated. It definitely gets more crowded when live music is happening, but we have usually had pretty good luck dining here at the last minute. We can’t guarantee availability, but it could be a good option to check if you don’t have a reservation.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You are looking for a restaurant unique to Disney World. There are multiple House of Blues locations across the country, so this restaurant isn’t unique to Disney Springs.
- You are looking for a quiet dining experience. House of Blues has a lively atmosphere, and it can get especially loud when live music is happening. You can check the House of Blues website to find out when live music is happening, though!
- You want a Disney-themed restaurant or character dining. While House of Blues has lots of fun details, you won’t be seeing lots of Disney-themed decorations or any Disney characters here.
Overall
Overall, we had a tasty meal at House of Blues. The Shrimp N’ Grits and the Bread Pudding were our favorites, but we also enjoyed everything else. However, it is hard to say that you NEED to stop by House of Blues, as there are so many great dining options at Disney World. Music lovers will definitely enjoy the theming, and we appreciate that the menu has lots of options. But you can also find this restaurant elsewhere, and it isn’t uniquely Disney. Although if you are a Bread Pudding fan, you definitely need to try House of Blues!
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
