Now, one popular airport is actually making its TSA PreCheck offering even better, thanks to the addition of Touchless ID. This is going to be a total game-changer!
The Miami International Airport is about to upgrade its TSA PreCheck! TSA recently announced that TSA PreCheck Touchless ID will be implemented at the Miami Airport in the North, Central, and South Terminals. This biometric technology will give eligible users a faster identification process. You won’t even need to present a physical boarding pass or ID!

Touchless ID uses advanced facial comparison technology to verify your identity in seconds. You will look at the camera in the correct, dedicated lane. Your live photo will be matched against the stored passport information, which should make security more efficient and convenient for everyone involved.

TSA’s Federal Security Director for MIA Stephen Taber said, “Bringing TSA PreCheck Touchless ID to MIA marks another step forward in modernizing airport security and improving the passenger journey. We are excited to offer this cutting-edge option to our travelers, reducing wait times and leading to a more streamlined security screening process.” It’s important to know that this isn’t available for every airline!

MCO TSA Precheck
This is available for current TSA PreCheck members flying with the following airlines:
- North Terminal: American Airlines
- Central Terminal: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines
- South Terminal: Delta Air Lines and United Airlines

To use TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, eligible passengers will need to opt in through their airline’s app or profile if they offer it. Then, they will need to ensure their TSA PreCheck Known Traveler Number and valid passport information are on file. After that, a TSA PreCheck Touchless ID indicator will show up on your mobile boarding pass for flights that qualify.

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID
While this is a great option for TSA PreCheck users, we would definitely recommend bringing your physical ID with you always. This will ensure there are no problems if the technology has an issue (which can happen even with the best tech), and it’s just good practice to keep it with you. This expansion is also part of TSA’s current efforts to expand the Touchless ID offerings at airport’s nationawide. You can see where Touchless ID is available and where it will be here:

Charlotte-Douglas Airport already has it.
Miami has the single worst custom entry process of any airport for connecting flights. I travel to the Caribbean monthly and now divert into St Thomas so I can avoid customs there. Also for the last three years I am amazed at how many things are not working. From air trains to moving walkways. Literally have been unable to take air train the full route 1 time in 3 years.
