At this point, it shouldn’t shock you that we’re getting more construction news at Disney World! Magic Kingdom is getting a massive expansion, Hollywood Studios is getting a new land, DinoLand just closed at Animal Kingdom, and a new resort is coming.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Another refurbishment that is happening right now is at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. The resort has been undergoing refurbishment for a little while now, and Disney just announced that it won’t be complete any time soon!
Disney has confirmed that renovations will continue in select areas at the resort — specifically, the porte cochere. This process will last through early 2027. So, if you have plans to stay at the resort at all this year, this is something you’ll want to be aware of.

Disney always warns guests that they may “see or hear refurbishment” during the daytime. They also noted that guests may need to take “alternate paths of travel.” Some minor inconveniences, but Disney usually does a great job of staying out of the way of guests as best they can.

This refurbishment has been a process for the resort, adding new flooring and furniture, a new lobby bar called The Perch, and the reopening of the Garden View tea room — which is coming soon! The construction has come with its pains. The lobby wasn’t itself for a while, changing the aesthetic for guests visiting. The popular gingerbread house was also unable to be put up in 2025 during Christmastime as well.

I would expect that the Grand Floridian Cafe is soon to go under refurbishment. It’s the only venue that hasn’t been touched. I was having breakfast there recently and the GM was doing a walk through of the venue and discussion with a plain clothes Cast Member and they were looking at the walls, ceiling etc. It was more than just a typical inspection of a venue as it lasted the length of my breakfast.
