Monsters, Inc. has been one of my favorite movies since I can remember, so when Disney World announced a whole land dedicated to the movie, I was in tears. Of course, I also shed a few tears for the loss of MuppetVision, but Sulley and Mike are on the horizon.
Monstropolis is coming along in Hollywood Studios, and @bioreconstruct on X posted new aerial photos of the construction site. We don’t have an opening date for the land yet, but given how it’s coming along, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get an updated timeline soon!
I got a jar of dirt! Well, no, we have an entire lot full of dirt. This is the space for the hanging door roller coaster, which will let you ride just like Mike, Sulley, and Boo. It will be the first of its kind for Disney World.
Here’s a closer look at the poured cement in the corner. Could this be the entrance to the attraction? Or just part of the bigger building?
The space is pretty significant, too. Those cars behind are a Cast Member parking lotf or Hollywood Studios. I know roller coasters take up a lot of room, but I feel like it’s going to be a long ride (or…at least I’m hoping it’s a long ride).
Looks like they already mapped out the space to pour cement.
Of course, we have to give a wave to MuppetVision. A show is coming to the land, and it’s suspected this will turn into the show space based on the previous building design and concept art. My only question is: is it 3D?
Here’s a bit of a wider shot. That’s PizzeRizzo on the bottom, which we’re hoping turns into another quick service location, and to the left is Mama Melrose’s Ristorante, which we’re begging Disney to turn into Harryhausen’s, the Japanese restaruant in the movie. Concept art shows Harryhausen’s, but of course, it’s just concept art, and nothing has been announced.
One more final shot! This is the backside, about where the roller coaster will be. To the left is Galaxy’s Edge and to the right will take you closer to the front of the park. I’m already picturing my rope drop route for the new roller coaster!
Well now I’m even mroe excited for it to open. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for all the updated information you need to know about your favorite theme park.

It seams they are moving so slow.
OMG I could NOT be more excited for this!!! Monsters, Inc. was also one of my favorite movies. I want a projected timeline so I can at least start a countdown lol Even if I do have to wait a couple years! (Which my oh my I hope we don’t have to wait that long… 😂)
