Disney has just revealed some important news about its theme parks.
On February 2nd, 2026, Disney held its earnings call and released its earnings report for the first quarter (Q1) of fiscal year 2026 (FY 2026). We got updates about Disney+, ESPN, and more — but for now, we’re focusing on the Disney theme parks! Just how are the parks doing financially? And are the crowds picking up…or has there been a decline in attendance? Let’s dive into the updates!
During the Q4 FY 2025 earnings call (held in November of 2025), Disney revealed that while revenue in Disney’s domestic theme parks had increased by 6%, domestic theme park attendance was DOWN by 1%. But things like higher spending by guests, strong hotel bookings, and growth at Disney Cruise Line helped offset that drop.
So what’s the update as of the latest quarter?
On February 2nd, 2026, Disney revealed that during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, a quarterly revenue of $10 billion and segment operating income of $3.3 billion were reported. The Domestic Parks & Experiences operating income growth for the quarter was 8%, with attendance at the domestic parks up 1% in the quarter. Per capita spending was up 4% in the domestic parks.
This is due to a number of factors, including international visitation at the domestic parks, pre-launch costs for the Disney Adventure, and pre-opening costs for World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris.
Dometic parks brought in about $6.9 billion in revenue, and international parks account for about $1.7 billion. Of the overall $10 billion in revenue for the quarter, consumer products made up the final $1.3 billion. The majority of the growth came in the second half of 2025. The higher volumes were because of increased passenger cruise days, attendance, and occupied room nights. The Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny also had additional passenger cruises.
Bob Iger, CEO, said, “We are pleased with the start to our fiscal year, and our achievements reflect the tremendous progress we’ve made. We delivered strong box office performance in calendar year 2025 with billion-dollar hits like Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash, franchises that generate value across many of our businesses. As we continue to manage our company in the future, I am incredibly proud of all that we’ve accomplished over the past three years.”
Disney has MANY theme park-related projects in the works that could draw visitors to its parks all over the world. They’re working on everything from an Avatar-themed area for Disneyland Resort to a Villains land in Magic Kingdom, Monsters, Inc.-themed land for Hollywood Studios, a new Frozen space coming to Disneyland Paris, and a brand-new theme park in Abu Dhabi.
How will these new projects impact theme park attendance? And how will that all balance with price increases that are sure to be on the horizon? We’ll be watching for the latest updates and bringing that all to you, so be sure to check back with us for ALL the news!
