We’ve got some good news for those who are visiting Disney World, and specifically those staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge!

Late in 2025, Disney announced that there would be a closure of the boat transportation at the resort in January. That closure prevented people from taking a boat from the resort to the Magic Kingdom, and vice versa. Well, we’re happy to say it looks like the closure is officially over!

The boat that takes guests from the resort to Magic Kingdom and back had a shorter temporary closure that started on January 12th and was scheduled to end on January 30th. Thankfully, Disney was right on schedule. Guests did have the option to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom while this refurb was taking place, but the boat just feels so much more unique and fun. So, we’re happy the waiting period for the boat is finally up.

That being said, that wasn’t the only refurbishment taking place at Wilderness Lodge! The other docks at Wilderness Lodge closed on January 12th, 2026, and are still scheduled to be closed for refurbishment through April 2026. So, the transportation to Magic Kingdom may have reopened, but there is still work being done on the other docks. Nothing is wrong with the docks; this is just a temporary routine maintenance.

If you are staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you’re going to want to be aware of even MORE refurbishment taking place at the popular resort. The hotel, along with Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, is undergoing refurbishment that will last through late 2026.

Disney usually does a good job of staying out of the way of guests, but this construction work could limit views at the hotel. You’ll also see and hear construction being done during the day at the resort. Most amenities at the hotel will still remain open, so it shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.
