REVIEW: If Pistachios Are Your Jam, Add This Animal Kingdom Treat to Your Must-Try List

What’s a trip to the Disney World theme parks without grabbing a snack? While we were in Disney’s Animal Kingdom this morning, we made a stop by Tamu Tamu Refreshments to grab a Pistachio Croissant.

This treat piqued our interest, as it replaced the Pistachio Honey Croissant that was previously available here. Now, a Pistachio Croissant and a Pistachio Honey Croissant sound pretty similar, but we will never say no to a chance for a Disney treat! Did this treat just get a name change, or did it also get some changes?

You can grab the Pistachio Croissant at Tamu Tamu Refreshments for $6.49. The Disney menu doesn’t give us any more details than that, so let’s dig in and see how it tastes. First up, we noticed a difference from the previous Pistachio Honey Croissant. The Pistachio Croissant has pistachio frosting on top, while the last time we tried the Pistachio Honey Croissant, it only had pistachio crumbles. The new version has the frosting AND the pistachio crumbles. As we were taking pictures and videos of this treat, we were worried it would be really dry and tough. Even as we were tearing into it, it was hard to pull apart.

However, when we finally bit into it, we were surprised to find a light, fluffy croissant. The ends were a bit tough, but still easy to chew. The pistachio frosting had a strong pistachio flavor, and we loved the added crunch from the pistachio pieces on top. The inside was filled with a bit of what tasted like honey butter, which was a tasty addition. The honey adds a bit of sweetness, and we enjoyed the additional butteriness it added.

We were so impressed by this Pistachio Croissant, and it is definitely something we would grab again. It is quick and easy, and SO yummy! We highly recommend adding this to your snack list for your next Animal Kingdom day. Keep in mind it is only available at breakfast, though, so make sure you stop by early enough!
