When it comes to which shoes are best to bring on a Disney World vacation, it’s no surprise that our readers have plenty of opinions!
Few things are more important than the right shoes during a Disney World vacation. You’ll be walking miles upon miles as you bounce from ride to ride, getting your drinks Around the World, and trekking along the Animal Kingdom walking trails — so taking care of your feet is literally the difference between a successful Disney day and painful misery. We asked YOU — the readers — which shoes you think are the best for the Disney Parks, and ya’ll provided some really great options! Here’s how the shoes ranked after the final tally…
First Place — HOKA
When we conducted our poll, we had some inkling of which shoes would come out on top — since we’ve become Disney World shoe experts ourselves over the decades. That’s why we’re not surprised that HOKA shoes were the overwhelming favorite.
One DFB reader wrote, “Great cushion and comfort for your feet. Your feet don’t get tired of wearing them multiple days while walking 20,000 steps. Variety of fun colors blends with my Disney vibe. They’re quite bouncy when you step so there’s tons of support at the heel but it also was a great fit for those with high arches to their feet (like me). The backs of the Rincon 4s bothered the back of my heels but the Clifton 10s sure didn’t.”
We agree! Built for long-term use, they keep a firm look about them while still providing plenty of spring to your step. One of our teammembers said that “HOKAs fit around your foot in a cradling way instead of leaving you feeling like you’ve added pounds to your feet with each step.” Ultra-cushioned, comfortable, supportive, and springy — HOKAs take the top spot on our list.
Second Place — New Balance
New Balance has had quite a resurgence these last few years. No longer known as “the ’90s dad shoe”, these shoes have skyrocketed in popularity among the general public and ranked second in the poll.
One reader said, “While the model may change, I’ve never had blisters or any pain from any model of New Balances, so it’s a ‘safe’ shoe for me to bring and know my feet won’t be an issue.”
New Balance shoes aren’t as flashy as HOKAs, but they provide an undeniable dependability that you can count on during a Disney World trip. Still, these shoes are catching up in style, all while providing all-day comfort that your feet will thank you for after a long day in the parks. Dads were really onto something in the 1990s, and the trend they started lives on today.
Third Place — Skechers
Skechers slip-ons came in third in our polling! While these shoes aren’t built for speed necessarily, they do make your feet feel supported and like they’re being air-conditioned. These shoes offer a real respite for long — and humid — Disney days when all you want to do is keep your feet cool and cozy. One reader wrote, “I have arthritis in my feet and can do Disney all day and still not be in pain🙌”
Of course, there are more performance-enhancing Skechers you can check out on Amazon as well! Overall, Skechers are lightweight, easy to slip on, and a comfortable pick for Disney-goers looking for great arch support and a cushioned fit.
Fourth Place — Brooks
Called “comfortable, bouncy, and supportive” by one DFB reader, Brooks sneakers are built for runDisney events and Disney fans who take a more energetic approach to their Disney days.
Whether you’re trying to keep up with your hyper kids or walk at a brisk pace to make a reservation, Brooks can give you a leg up.
Built for runners but loved by Disney Parks experts, Brooks shoes provide the bounce and support needed for long park days. Breathable yet reliable, these shoes handle the stress of a long day at a hot theme park very well.
Fifth Place — Chacos
Sandals aren’t always the obvious choice for theme park attire, but they can be great options for folks looking to give their feet some air or those who want to take it slow at Animal Kingdom.
Chacos were the top sandal choice of DFB readers, with one writing, “They work on all terrains, have great arch support, and do fine when wet.” They hold up well against puddles and rainstorms, bumpy roads, and long days of walking.
Built to survive adventure, Chacos are tougher than they look, providing terrific traction, arch support, and adaptability that is ideal for a climate like Central Florida.
Honorable Mention — ASICS
Of ASICS, one DFB reader wrote, “They have a good amount of support while still feeling really soft and cushy! I also like them because they have a slightly larger toe box than many other shoes I have tried on, making them great for anyone with toe issues, like ingrown toenails. I have been wearing them for close to two years now, and they are still supportive.”
These are designed to amplify performance and strenuous activity.
Honorable Mention — Nike
One DFB reader said Nike shoes are “cute, comfortable, supportive, and almost waterproof. I can walk through a puddle without soggy socks.”
Nikes are often reliable, sporty, and stylish. It is important to mention, however, that you need the perfect fit, or you can risk chafing.
Honorable Mention — Crocs
While they are goofy-looking, it’s hard to argue against the comfort of Crocs.
They’re oddly practical. One reader wrote, “No issue if they get wet.” They are available in a bunch of different styles and theming — meaning you’ll also fit in better wearing them at Disney World than maybe anywhere else!
Honorable Mention — Clarks
If you’re looking for open-toed shoes, Clarks may be the way to go. A DFB reader wrote, “I hate any kind of close-toed shoes/sneakers in the parks. These are light and airy flip-flops, but with a supportive arch and Cloudstepper cushioning (I switch them out about every 6 months, but someone who doesn’t wear flip-flops often could go longer, I’m certain). I have some slight problems with my arch and even my Dr approves these.”
Comfy and stylish, these flip-flops are well-regarded and great for a park day.
Honorable Mention — Flux
Flux shoes have a high-tech look about them, and, as one reader puts it, allow you to “walk for miles.”
Comfy, high-quality, and offering good support, these shoes could be perfect for your next Disney World vacation.
Honorable Mention — Vans
Vans aren’t ideal for long park days, but if you’re only planning on walking for a few hours, they are a great choice.
One reader wrote, “Vans for the parks, Croc sandals (open toe) for the time at the hotel/pool/etc.” Stylish and classic, these shoes look great and feel great so long as you don’t log much more than 12,000 steps — otherwise, you’re in for some possible blisters.
Honorable Mention — On Cloud
On Cloud Sneakers look kinda funky, but they’re also ultra-lightweight and make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud.
One DFB reader wrote, “Super comfortable and lightweight. Absolutely zero foot fatigue or any knee or calf strain.” The shoes’ cushioning absorbs all sorts of vibrations and obstacles, making sure your feet stay supported and comfy every step.
