Disneyland’s Star Wars area is getting a massive upgrade! Galaxy’s Edge is a Star Wars-themed land on both the East and West Coasts, and they’ve been very similar. You’ll explore Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu that the First Order has overtaken. You can meet Kylo Ren and his Stormtroopers, ride the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca, and help Finn, Rey, and the Rebel Alliance take down the First Order. Both lands have been set during the sequel trilogy – until now!
While Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World will stay the same, the West Coast’s Disneyland area will be completely rethemed to be set during the original trilogy. This means new characters from “A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back,” and “Return of the Jedi” will be roaming around the park. But how will these changes impact the characters currently in Galaxy’s Edge?
On the First Order side of Galaxy’s Edge, Darth Vader will appear in a rethemed Galactic Empire stronghold with Stormtroopers in tow. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren will be moved to the Disney Visa Cardholder lounge in Tomorrowland outside of Star Wars Launch Bay. This means that Ben Solo will exclusively meet and greet with guests with a Chase Disney Visa.
We’ve seen Darth Vader before, but not in Galaxy’s Edge every day, and we’re SO excited to see this villain come to life. Sure, we love our heroes whohave saved the galaxy, but sometimes we can’t pass on a villain!
As for other sequel trilogy characters, the forested rebel base half of Galaxy’s Edge will remain in the sequel timeline. Rey, BB-8, and Vi Moradi will be moved near “Rise of the Resistance” instead of wandering in Black Spire Outpost. Chewbacca will continue to be seen around the Millennium Falcon, but will be joined by Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Luke Skywalker. The Mandalorian and Grogu will move to the marketplace area along with parks newcomer Ahsoka Tano. R2-D2 remains unaffected and will roam between both areas.
Disney has introduced rare character meet-and-greets with Padme Amidala and Boba Fett, but the characters were only for special events. With a timeline expansion, we might see more characters visiting Galaxy’s Edge in the future. These updates to Disneyland will begin on April 29th, 2026, just in time for a “May The Fourth Be With You” trip. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Galaxy’s Edge updates!
