If you’ve ever found yourself grabbing a last minute meal in DinoLand U.S.A., this news might sting a little.
A popular Disney World restaurant is officially closing its doors next month, and it’s going to change how guests eat in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a while. We finally have firm dates, plus details on where that familiar food is heading next. If Restaurantosaurus has ever been part of your Animal Kingdom routine, you’ll want to know exactly what’s happening and when.
Restaurantosaurus, the longtime quick service staple in DinoLand U.S.A., is permanently closing on February 2nd, 2026. That means the very last day to eat there will be February 1st, 2026, so the clock is officially ticking. For years, this spot has been a reliable option for burgers, chicken nuggets, and air conditioning, which honestly made it a go to for a lot of families. Whether you loved the kitschy theming or just needed a break from the heat, Restaurantosaurus definitely filled an important role in many of our Animal Kingdom dining plans.
This closure is part of the larger transformation happening in the park, specifically the construction of the Tropical Americas area, also known as Pueblo Esperanza. This new land will take over the current DinoLand footprint and is already under construction.
So what happens to all those familiar menu items once Restaurantosaurus is gone? Disney plans to shift much of that food to Harambe Market. This quick service restaurant near Kilimanjaro Safaris has been closed for months, but it looks like Disney’s website is showing availability for Harambe Market starting March 1st, 2026.
When Harambe Market does reopen, we’re expected to see a change to the menu. We’re expecting to see items like burgers, chicken strips, and hot dogs added to the lineup to help replace what DinoLand is losing. Previously, Harambe Market focused more on rice bowls, pita wraps, salads, and desserts with bold flavors. We personally loved those options, so we’re hoping Disney finds a way to keep some of that identity while still offering more familiar fare.
There is one important thing you’ll want to keep in mind, though. Harambe Market only offers outdoor seating, unlike Restaurantosaurus, which gives you a full indoor dining area and a break from the weather (Harambe Market does not). If rain rolls in or the heat gets too intense, you may need to carry your food somewhere else.
Long term, the answer is coming with Pueblo Esperanza. Disney has shared that there will be a massive hacienda style quick service restaurant coming to Tropical Americas, which Disney said will be one of the largest quick service locations in all of Walt Disney World. We’re just going to have to wait until 2027 for it to open.
If Restaurantosaurus has been one of your Animal Kingdom comfort meals, now’s the time to plan one last visit. After February 1st, 2026, it’ll officially be gone, and Animal Kingdom dining is going to look a little different for at least the next year. As always, we’ll keep you posted on menu updates, reopening dates, and everything else you need to know to eat your way around Disney World.
