It’s a BIG day for American Airlines!

American Airlines has a new free perk starting today, and it’s seriously going to make you want to consider using American Airlines all the time!
Starting today, January 6th, American Airlines is now offering free in-flight wifi for most of its flights! The wifi will be available exclusively for members of the AAdvantage program. Now, if you’re not a part of the program, don’t panic. It’s completely free to sign up for American Airlines’ loyalty program — free points and free wifi!

This new perk will be brought in phases, starting today. Sponsored by AT&T, the wifi will be available on all narrow-body mainline and regional planes that have Viasat and Intelsat connectivity to start. This will impact more than 2 million flights a year, according to American Airlines. By the time early spring of 2026 rolls around, they confirmed nearly every American Airlines flight will have free wifi.

“Free high-speed Wi-Fi isn’t just a perk — it’s essential for today’s travelers,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer. In-flight wifi is essential for those wanting/needing to stay connected with people or work while traveling. Most of the time, you need to pay for it, but not anymore with American, thanks to this perk!

To access the wifi, you’ll need to go to the aainflight.com portal and log in with your AAdvantage number and password. Once you do that, select “Free Wi-Fi”, and you’re good to go! When it’s all said and done, American Airlines will offer free wi-fi on more aircraft than any other airline in the world.
