This summer is shaping up to be a BIG one at Disney World!
Between EPCOT festivals, the return of the hotel water park perk, and Cool Kid Summer returning, we don’t blame you if you suddenly want to plan a trip. Speaking of Cool Kids’ Summer, Disney just dropped even more details about what we can expect — including our favorite Toy Story pals coming to Diamond Horseshoe at Magic Kingdom!
Disney has announced that as part of Cool Kids’ Summer, some iconic Toy Story characters will be featured at Diamond Horseshoe in Magic Kingdom! Get ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good time as Jessie, Woody, and friends join diners for some “energetic fun” at Jessie’s Roundup.
Disney shared that as part of this new addition, you’ll be able to craft, dance, and yodel your heart out in this new western revue. When we spoke with a Cast Member, they said it will be set up as a dinner show with Diamond Horseshoe’s traditional offerings while enjoying a fun show.
Cool Kids’ Summer kicks off on May 26th and runs all the way through September 8th, so there will be plenty of time to boot, scoot, and boogie on over to the Diamond Horseshoe to check out this new offering!
Not only that, but as part of Cool Kids’ Summer, all four parks will have characters available to meet and greet during Early Theme Park Entry for hotel guests. Plus, select Disney World hotels will feature scheduled character experiences!
The free water park ticket perk is also returning for Cool Kids’ Summer, and both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open during this time!
We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about Cool Kids’ Summer and the latest happenings at Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

I wonder how that will go. I know it’s not one of the more popular MK restaurants as of now. Isn’t it a more chill, relaxed environment for when people need a break from the noise and crowds? Bringing Woody and Jessie will draw a “rowdy” bunch.
The Diamond Horseshoe is basically “Liberty Tree LIGHT”. They both have the same menu & same prices. The Diamond is just easier to book and has much less ambiance. Liberty Tree has multiple rooms and lots of windows & a larger serving crew and overall better theming. DH has none of that … it’s basically just one big dance hall room with a second story wrap around balcony with seating. I am very surprised Disney doesn’t take this idea one step further and just make this place a full time Character Meet-and-Greet, featuring either Woody & Jesse, some of the Country Bears, or maybe even some “Frontier Mickey”-type characters tossed in there for good measure. This would give MK another character restaurant option, to which Disney could then charge ALOT more money for the meal (making them A LOT more money, which they seem to love) and, perhaps, would make the Diamond Horseshoe a restaurant that would NOW be on more people’s radars. Seems to me that it could even be set up as a buffet style (as many of their other M&G’s tend to be), as there is lots of space to set up hot tables at one end, etc. I have eaten here on more than one occasion and the place is actually kind of sad, IMO. You have this nicely themed western saloon thing going on here, complete with a nice stage …. but there is NOTHING going on here. There aren’t many windows either & the few that are are up in the front. So, if you’re seated anywhere NOT near the front of the building, your country themed “ambiance” is gets boring very quickly & your just staring at four walls in a large boring room. I am sure that music was probably piped into the place during my last visit, but honestly, I don’t even remember if it was! I compare eating there to going to eat at “Hoop-De-Doo” on a night when no show is taking place …. except its like this every day. A character M&G would probably do the place wonders & perhaps resurrect interest in bookings there, because at the end of the day, the food/menu itself, overall, IS really good!
