If Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has ever been a must-do on your Hollywood Studios day, this news is probably going to hit you right in the feels.
Disney has officially confirmed that Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith will permanently close in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 2nd, 2026. That means March 1st, 2026, will be the final day guests can ride the coaster in its current form. While this is definitely the end of an era, there is some exciting news about what is coming next that longtime fans and Muppets lovers are going to want to hear.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has been a Hollywood Studios staple for decades, thanks to its high-speed launch, inversions, and iconic soundtrack. For many fans, it is one of the most thrilling attractions in the park and one of the last remaining ties to the park’s earlier identity. Disney has now locked in the closing date, which gives fans just a couple of months left to plan a farewell ride or two before the attraction shuts its doors.
The good news is that the ride itself is not going away entirely. Instead, Disney is re-theming the attraction into a brand-new Muppets-inspired roller coaster. Disney previously announced the reimagining, but now we have a clear timeline for when the transformation will begin and when guests can expect to experience the new version.
Disney has shared that the new Muppets-themed coaster is expected to open in summer 2026. That gives Imagineers a fairly short window to transform the existing ride system, queue, and storyline. If you have ever wondered how quickly Disney can overhaul an attraction when motivated, this project is definitely one to watch.
The story of the new ride centers around the Electric Mayhem band, who are headlining the biggest concert of their careers. Guests are given VIP passes that allow them inside the recording studio, where they discover the band in the middle of an epic jam session. The penguins are acting as audio engineers, which already feels very on brand. Scooter is trying to keep things on schedule and needs your help to get the band to the concert venue on time.
During the ride, you will blast through the course while rocking out to Electric Mayhem and some seriously high-energy tracks. Disney has not released a full track list yet, but we are expecting plenty of rock and roll vibes to match the intensity of the coaster. Disney also confirmed that a first-of-its-kind Muppet animatronic will be part of the attraction, which has us asking a lot of questions and speculating wildly about who it could be.
The changes won’t stop once you exit the limo. G Force Records is getting a makeover as the Muppets take over, with help from Scooter’s uncle J.P. Grosse. Outside the building, the giant guitar will receive a colorful update inspired by Electric Mayhem’s van. The piano keys at the base will feature a golden key as a nod to a certain far-out band leader. These details suggest that the reimagined attraction will lean heavily into fun, color, and classic Muppets humor.
If Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is on your must-ride list, you will want to make sure it is part of your plans before March 1st, 2026. This closure is permanent, and once the doors close, the Aerosmith era will officially be over.
We will be keeping a close eye on updates and opening timelines as Disney shares more about the Muppets coaster. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news and planning tips.

Just in time for the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show. I happen to be a longtime fan of The Muppets just like Walter from 2011 movie.
I dont think that makes sense. Muppet attraction for adults at high speed. No. Bad idea. This ride is more for older guest, not the little ones . Adults will not enjoy Muppet song either. Please stop ruining Disney. This is dumb
