We’ve got some more big news coming out of Magic Kingdom, because it includes some work being done on an attraction that we didn’t realize had any construction planned.
Piston Peak is currently under construction, as is Villains Land, not to mention that we’re eagerly awaiting Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin to reopen in 2026 with their refurbishments. Now it looks like there could be some more work being done on another popular attraction in the park, but it’s unclear if it’ll have to close for the changes to be made.
Disney just recently filed a new permit for the building located at 1600 Magic Kingdom Dr., which just so happens to be Haunted Mansion!
According to the full permit filed on December 26th, the permit is to “install set elements,” and the company contracted to do the work is Mecca Productions, Inc., which is a full-service design, fabrication, and installation firm located in Central Florida. They create props and scenery for theme parks and attractions, museums, and corporate events. In fact, they’re so experienced with haunted houses and designs of that nature that it’s made them the country’s leading Halloween fabricator.
The permit will expire a year from the file date, which will make that December 26th, 2026. We’re curious to see when this work may take place. The ride may have to close to install the new set elements, or they may be able to be installed overnight when the park is closed to guests. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled!
