Don't Forget About This Disney World Transportation Closure in 2026

If you’ve got plans to stay at the beautiful Disney World resort that is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge in 2026, you’re going to have to plan accordingly for a big change coming early next year.

This deluxe resort is by far one of our favorites at Disney World. It’s gorgeous and offers several ways to get around Disney World, including boat transportation. However, a closure is coming to the boats in January — let’s take a look at the details!

The docks at Wilderness Lodge will be closing for refurbishment on January 12th, 2026, through April 2026. This will be a temporary routine maintenance that often takes place at the docks. This means no more taking the boat to Magic Kingdom and back for a little while.

Let’s sail over to Magic Kingdom!

We do have some good news, though! The boat that will take guests from the resort to Magic Kingdom and back will only be closed from January 12th through January 30th. If you are staying at the hotel during that time frame, you’ll have to take a bus to Magic Kingdom instead. Otherwise, you can take the boat as usual. This also applies to the boat that goes to Fort Wilderness Resort.

Speaking of refurbishment at Wilderness Lodge, the hotel, along with Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, is undergoing refurbishment through late 2026. Disney usually does a good job of staying out of the way of guests, but this construction work could limit views at the hotel. You’ll also see and hear construction being done during the day at the resort. Most amenities at the hotel will still remain open, so it shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.
