Disneyland’s Magic Key calendar reveals MAJOR summer blockout changes!

Disneyland has been busy lately, rolling out ticket deals, offering new ways to save through major retailers, and quietly laying the groundwork for some bigger changes coming to the parks in 2026. With all that movement, it’s no surprise that Magic Key Annual Passholders are paying close attention to what’s changing behind the scenes. And since Disney’s released the calendar view of their upcoming 2026 availability for Magic Key Annual Passholders, we’re getting a clearer picture of how summer access is shifting — and it’s a change that could seriously impact planning your next visit during some of the busiest times of year.
Disneyland Magic Key holders (and new annual pass purchasers) may want to take a closer look at the newly released Magic Key park availability calendar for 2026, because it reveals a notable shift in summer access (and not in a good way for some passholders) With the calendar now available, it’s clear that blockout dates are increasing significantly during peak summer months, especially when compared year over year.

The most striking change impacts the Enchant Key. In both June and July, the Enchant Key now includes just four total usable days combined. For a pass tier that many guests rely on for summer visits (especially families and local passholders), this represents a sharp reduction in access during one of the busiest and most popular seasons at Disneyland.

The Explore Key (while still offering more flexibility) also reflects the broader trend. Across June and July, the Explore Key includes 43 available days, which is notably fewer than what similar pass tiers offered in previous years. When comparing the 2025 and 2026 calendars, the increase in blockout dates during the summer is impossible to miss. What was once a manageable level of restricted access has expanded into weeks where passholders are effectively locked out unless they upgrade to a higher-tier Magic Key.

This shift signals a continued move by Disneyland toward prioritizing date-based demand management, especially during peak travel periods. Summer has long been one of the most crowded times of year at the parks, and limiting Magic Key access could be one way Disney is attempting to control attendance while preserving availability for full-price ticketed guests.

For current Magic Key holders (er, well — or anyone considering purchasing or renewing a pass), these changes are important to factor into future planning. If summer visits are a priority for you, lower-tier Magic Keys may no longer offer the value they once did, which may have you contemplating upgrading to a higher tier of pass that fits your needs. On the other hand, those who primarily visit during off-peak seasons may feel less impacted by the changes.

In any case, it’s important that potential and renewing passholders take time to review the Magic Key calendars carefully before committing to the pass tier that’s right for them. With summer access shrinking year over year, understanding exactly when you can visit is now just as important as the pass tier you choose.
