If you’ve got a Disney World trip booked for 2026, you’ll want to remember that the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are updating its maximum occupancy rule.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
As of right now, you can book a fully equipped campsite at Disney’s Fort Wilderness for up to 10 guests on the site. However, the maximum occupancy will be lowered to only 8 guests starting in 2026! Let’s take a look at the details.
The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! When you book your trip with Small World Vacations, their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings. They also compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. The decrease in the maximum number of guests allowed will apply to Premium Campsites, Premium Meadow Campsites, Full Hook-Up Campsites, Tent or Pop-Up Campsites, and Preferred Campsites. Essentially, ALL the campsites that are not the cabins at Fort Wilderness. The cabins at Fort Wilderness will still accommodate up to 6 guests.

Again, this only applies to guests who are visiting Fort Wilderness in 2026. Those who will be there at any point during the remainder of 2025 can still have 10 guests on their site. So when you’re planning, make sure you plan accordingly to the change.

Trail’s End Restaurant
Disney’s Fort Wilderness is a fun option for family and friends who are looking to bring an RV, pop-up, or tent camp. The campground features 750 acres of pine and cypress forest, so it really feels like you’re camping at Disney World. The site is also very close to the Magic Kingdom, so you can see the fireworks from the beach. There are also many activities that are available at the campsite!

Fort Wilderness
At the Fort Wilderness, you can relax by the pool, check out the horses, learning to be an archer, take horseback rides, and so much more. Staying at the campground will also give you Early Theme Park Entry. It’s a pretty sweet place to stay, and it’s more unique than anything you’ll find at Disney World.

I’m surprised its not lower. The vast majority of private and public campgrounds around the country have a 6 person guest limit. More than that can have a negative impact on guests adjacent to or in close proximity of the site.
Look at it like a hotel. Every room type limits the number of guests to try to limit disruptions and noise for other guests as much as possible. Campsites are no different.
Eight still sounds excessive…and a miserable experience in my opinion!
