REVIEW: A Viral Dessert Is Now Available in a BRAND-NEW Location

A brand-new affogato cart just opened at Disney Springs!

That’s right, you now have double the opportunity to grab a viral affogato from Vivoli il Gelato, which has brought its affogato straight from Italy to Disney Springs. In addition to Vivoli’s regular storefront, you can now get affogatos and more Italian favorites from this brand-new cart. We were invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony and are now bringing you a review of this new spot!

The new Vivoli il Gelato Affogato Cart officially opened on December 15th at Disney Springs! You’ll find this new dessert stand located between the World of Disney store and Ghirardelli, near the Basin store as well. The affogato cart is open from 10 AM to 11 PM — the same hours as the brick-and-mortar store. Keep an eye out for it on your next visit to Disney Springs if you want to check out this viral treat.

Vivoli il Gelato affogato cart

Affogato is a traditional Italian dessert made by pouring hot espresso over ice cream — or in this case, gelato. The presentation of the Vivoli affogato is just stunning, and we can see why it’s gone so viral lately. Have no fear, though, you’ll still be able to order an affogato at the brick-and-mortar Vivoli il Gelato location in The Landing section of Disney Springs.

Watching the Vivoli employees create the affogato is like watching an artist create a painting — it looks like it takes skill that we don’t know we possess! But, now let’s talk about what you’re really here for — the affogato!

Scoopin’ it up

We grabbed the Pistachio Affogato for $11. As you can probably guess, this is pistachio gelato served with hot espresso. This one was definitely our favorite! The pistachio gelato itself wasn’t overly pistachio-flavored; instead, there was just a hint of that nutty, roasted flavor. It paired so well with the roasted flavors of the espresso, and the two just complemented each other in a great way. We love the cold-and-hot dichotomy going on here; it makes for a fun experience. But, when the gelato begins to melt and is mixed with the espresso, you get a really creamy, delicious coffee.

Pistachio Affogato

Of course, we had to try the original as well, so we grabbed the Cream Custard Affogato for $10.50. This is the same way Vivoli il Gelato has been making affogato for over 95 years, all the way back in Italy — they even flew employees out from Italy to be there for the ribbon cutting! The cream custard was just that — incredibly creamy and custardy. We tasted notes of vanilla and some caramel as well, but it wasn’t overly sweet. We can easily see why this is so popular, and we will definitely be coming back — and bringing friends — to check it out again.
