Summer, summer, summer. That’s the only thing going through my head right now as I wait for winter to pass and summer to come back. While I’m ready for the warmer weather, I’m mostly excited for everything coming to Disney World this summer.
You can go to Disney World at any time throughout the year, but here is me convincing you that you should go in summer 2026.
Cool Kid Summer is Returning
This past year, Cool Kid Summer hit Disney World, and we were met with tons of character meet and greets and activities for the younger members of the family. There were lots of dance parties and special performances like acrobats and jugglers. I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did, but it gives the parks a more lively feel, and the magic is really everywhere.
Smugglers Run Changes

New missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.
On May 22nd, new scenes are coming to Smugglers Run, including one with Mando and Grogu! The engineer will also have a chance to communicate with characters and pick the adventure, making that position even more fun than before.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Opening
This might be what I’m most excited for. The Muppets have taken over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will open in spring 2026. I’m excited for the new preshow with Scooter, the penguins, and the Electric Mayhem, and the outside changes to the courtyard.
Walt Disney Studios Opening
Late in the summer, Walt Disney Studios will open with six meet and greet experiences, all themed to different animation departments, and a playground themed to Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland concept art. The whole space sounds like a great place to relax and beat the heat!
Disney Jr. Show Starts
In Walt Disney Studios, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! will be joining the lineup. You can dance alongside Mickey and Minnie as they go on a road trip to find their best pals, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto. Disney said that this show will start during the summer, but later in the summer, the full Walt Disney Studios will open.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Reopening
This spring, Big Thunder Mountain will be reopening with a bit of added magic, including Rainbow Caverns! This has been closed all of 2025, and we’re itching to get back on it. When summer hits, it will already be open and running and ready to take you on the wildest ride in the wilderness.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Reopening
I’ve also been missing getting Galactic Hero on Space Ranger Spin! This ride is getting an update with new handheld blasters, interactive targets, updated ride vehicles, and even a new show scene with a new character teaching you how to play. That’s so much NEW happening for one attraction, and you’ll get to experience it all in the spring. We typically find that when Disney says a specific season, it can mean the end of the beginning, so if you aim for summer, you should be able to catch it all.
Bluey and Bingo Character Experience Starts
Over at the Conservation Station at Animal Kingdom, Bluey and Bingo will be hanging out to play games with a fun animal twist, like butterfly keepy uppy. You’ll be able to meet and even see animals native to Australia. We’ve been waiting and waiting for Bluey to come to the parks, and we’re so happy it’s finally happening.
Soarin’ Across America Opens
By Memorial Day, you’ll be able to check out a brand new version of Soarin’. This one will feature beloved scenes from across the United States to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America. I’m excited to check out the new scents and scenes being added.
