Disney Springs has a way of making you feel like you need everything, and I’ve spent way too many dollars proving it.

Disney Springs
Disney Springs is one of the most dangerous places (for your wallet). It’s packed with delicious food, sparkling merch, and limited-edition goodies practically begging you to impulse buy them. Between the smells drifting from every direction, the massive stores filled with “must-have” souvenirs, and the snacks that photograph a little too well — believe us, we know, it can feel impossible to walk out without something you didn’t plan on buying. And while some of those surprises end up being winners, others… well, let’s just say we’ve learned the hard way what’s worth the splurge and what we definitely regret tossing into our bags. Let’s talk about the things we wish we’d skipped, so you don’t make the same mistakes on your next Disney Springs visit!
The Giant Popcorn Buckets
Disney popcorn buckets are iconic and make for a fun souvenir, but if you aren’t a huge popcorn fan, they can quickly turn into a burden. Those oversized character-themed buckets are heavier than you expect, and suddenly, you’re carrying around a bulky snack while trying to enjoy the parks or Disney Springs. It might seem worth it in the moment, but by the time you’re leaving, you’ll be juggling it with shopping bags, strollers, or backpacks.

On top of that, getting it home safely can be a challenge. You might think, “I’ll just pop it in the car!” but inevitably, a lid pops off, or the popcorn goes stale by the next day. If you want the fun of the bucket without the hassle, consider smaller souvenir options or simply enjoying a single serving of popcorn in the park.

Too Many Sweets
Gideon’s Bakehouse is a treat lover’s dream, and it’s easy to get carried away. Every time I step in, my eyes are bigger than my stomach, and I leave with a bag full of cookies and giant slices of cake… most of which I don’t even finish by the end of the trip. It’s tempting to try everything, but the reality is you’ll enjoy them more if you pick a few standout items.

Here’s a quick guide to help you narrow it down: our top picks are the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie or Peanut Butter Cookie. But, the highlight here is going for Hot Cookie Hour, which is between 2-3 and 7-8 each day of the week. This is when you can get a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of a warm cookie — it’s basically our favorite time of the day!

Wetzel’s Pretzels
Wetzel’s Pretzels might smell irresistible as you walk by, but when it comes to value and flavor, there are better snack options at Disney Springs. While a pretzel is always a fun comfort snack, Wetzel’s can be found at most of your local malls — it might be good, but nothing you can’t get closer to home.

If you’re looking for something that feels more Disney and unique, try a Dole Whip Flight at Swirls on the Water or The Daily Poutine for something savory. These options give you that Disney Springs vibe without feeling like an overpriced mall treat, and they often have flavors or quality you won’t find anywhere else.

Overpriced Specialty Drinks
Those sparkling drinks, enormous slushies, and color-changing beverages look incredible on Instagram, but many end up being way too sweet or artificially flavored. You might be tempted to splurge for the photo-op, only to realize halfway through that plain water or lemonade would’ve been just as satisfying, and a lot less expensive.

Coca Cola Rooftop
That said, there are a few specialty drinks that are worth the hype. Grab a drink at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. These are not only delicious, but it’s extra fun if you visit around the holiday season for their specialty menu. Focusing on the truly exceptional drinks ensures you get a treat without wasting money on something overly sweet.

Clothing You’ll Never Actually Wear
Disney-themed clothing is incredibly tempting, especially when it’s styled on a mannequin with perfect Minnie ears or a sparkling jacket. But let’s be honest, most of us don’t have many occasions to wear those shirts, dresses, or sequin-covered hoodies back home. What looks adorable in the store often ends up folded in a drawer, never seeing the light of day again.

World of Disney
To avoid this, stick to practical souvenirs or clothing you’ll realistically wear. Simple graphic tees, comfy hoodies, or even themed socks make great mementos without becoming closet clutter. If you really want something unique, consider items like Disney-themed pins, jewelry, or a hat. They can capture the Disney vibe without creating regret later.

World of Disney
Disney World can be pricey, so it’s great to think about what is actually worth your money! For more tips for your day at Disney Springs, follow us at DFB!
