Visiting Disney Parks in other countries is an interesting experience, to say the least. While you still feel the Disney magic that made you fall in love with the parks in the first place, there are a lot of different twists that remind you that you’re not at your home park.
Even when you’re riding your favorite attractions, it’s a little different that reminds you why you went to an international park in the first place. We especially felt that when we rode “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Paris. It’s probably the same everywhere, right? Well, think again!
“it’s a small world” is a ride that takes you through different countries and cultures on a small boat playing the very iconic “it’s a small world” song (and yes, it does still get stuck in your head in a different language.”
In Disneyland Paris, it started off pretty similar to how we know it at Disneyland and Disney World. While the scenes are different, the countries are represented pretty similarly. We even saw our favorite hippo!
The figures are in a similar style, too.
Then we hit the America section. In Disneyland and Disney World, there isn’t a dedicated American scene, so we were able to get a taste of what Disneyland Paris thinks represents America.
There was a classic Old West scene with a covered wagon, mountains, cacti, and cowboys. I like how the horse was enjoying the campfire. There were also Native American representations.
Another part depicted farm lands alongside a huge ship. It looked like a combination of a cruise ship and a pirate ship, but the figures on board seemed to be wearing sailor outfits.
In the back, there was the Hollywood sign, the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge, and a yellow taxi cab.
One part that made me smile was the sports area. There are two figures, one holding ice cream in a baseball uniform and one wearing a football uniform with popcorn. I love the sign in the back that says “Rah!”
Is this how you would represent America in “it’s a small world?” Tell us how you would do it in the comments, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more!

One thing in DLP’s ‘it’s a small world’ that I’d love to see in all the Disney Parks is a very small change…
In the European section, there’s England, Scotland and Ireland… but no Wales! Even though Wales has its own devolved government within the UK just like Scotland and Northern Ireland, and even though it’s got a wider diaspora than Scotland, it’s completely absent.
To rectify this, DLP took the Victorian carollers in the moon by Big Ben and dressed them in traditional Welsh outfits. Some people are a bit incredulous that Wales has been placed on the moon, rather than, say, giving them a rich green hill full of castles, daffodils, sheep, harps and maybe a miner or two, but they acknowledge that it’s better than not being there at all.
Come on, Orlando, Anaheim, Tokyo and Hong Kong– new clothes for the carollers, please!
