Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has been an E-Ticket attraction in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios since it opened on July 29th, 1999. But this indoor roller coaster is going to be entirely rethemed — and it looks like that may have already started happening.
Disney has yet to reveal the exact date that the ride will close for The Muppets to move in, but we do know that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will be opening sometime in 2026. So, imagine our surprise when we went to see our pals at G-Force Records, only to find that they were MISSING!
We got a tip from reader @jordanpaige2007 on Instagram that the pre-show at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was gone, so we had to go investigate. What we found was disappointing, to say the least. Instead of the pre-show with all of the instruments in the recording booth, there were screens up blocking the band from view, and this is what we saw:
Cast Members said that when they arrived at work this morning, the pre-show was gone without any warning. We also spoke to a Cast Member who said they believed this was a permanent change. Now this has not been confirmed by Disney itself just yet, so it’s unclear whether the pre-show is gone for good or if it was just temporarily unavailable, but based on word from Cast Members, it’s not looking good.
Either way, we were ushered through without the pre-show featuring Aerosmith. Still, we’ll be keeping an eye on this for additional changes — including a closing date or official reopening date.
As far as the retheme goes, The Muppets are moving to Sunset Boulevard and taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith! The Muppets will be the stars of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.”
Be prepared for G-Force Records to have a snazzy new look now that Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse, is in charge.
The thing is, Electric Mayhem is also lined up to headline their biggest Hollywood concert ever! From here, “Along with the finest audio engineers (all penguins, of course), we’ll see Scooter doing his best to convince Electric Mayhem to stop jamming and get to their increasingly restless fans. But will it be enough time to get the band and the town and onstage on time?”
We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster changes at Hollywood Studios. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

We just rode Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios this past Friday (11/28/25) and there was the pre-show with Aerosmith that I have always seen before.
Hi Mike! The pre-show was officially gone yesterday, Monday, December 1st so it makes sense that you saw it on Friday. We were told Cast Members came in on Monday morning and it was just gone with no warning.
Gotcha! Sorry, I didn’t see a date on your post and thought it was from a couple weeks ago.
Once Aerosmith has been removed fully I won’t be going on this ride again. Thankfully my family was just there all Thanksgiving week and rode it multiple times.
I know I’m not alone in that I can’t stand the Muppets. This and the removal of the great movie Ride have to be the worst decisions in a long time.
Remove Aerosmith, fine but there are plenty of rock bands it could’ve been re-themed to.
People are crazy if they think Disney is going to issue an announcement for something like this. They’ve announced the change to the Muppets so everyone should expect this stuff to happen. This will be a positive change which links to Disney as opposed to a band that most under the age of 40 have no idea who they were.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is NOT muppet material. Unless they gear it down to another kiddy roller coaster, I don’t see a lot of adult coaster riders getting into the muppet theme without their little kids sitting beside them. And the kids don’t even watch the muppets anymore. Now it’s Bluey and Peppa Pig. They ruined Splash Mountain, and I don’t have high hopes for cars, why not take away another icon.
I love the Aerosmith intro and the ride. I think it is very strange they are changing it to Muppets. Little ones who like the Muppets are too small to ride.
LOL not sure why so many commenting are hating on the Muppets. They are a wonderful, multi-generational, entertaining group of weirdos & I love them so much. That they closed the Aerosmith pre-show makes sense – they have to change it, right? But I’m also wondering if they’re testing the flow of the queue itself. Before, you lined up, stopped in the pre-show room, then continued but, without this part, would the line flow better and allow more people to ride throughout the day?
