One of our favorite things about visiting EPCOT is all the FOOD. There are snacks galore, fantastic restaurants, and tasty multicultural treats. You can practically try something new every time you go to the park, and that’s exactly what we try to do.
As you wander around World Showcase, you can stop and try fun international snacks from each of the 11 countries. Many of the items don’t change at the permanent venues, or they’ll offer signature menu items with additional seasonal offerings. As we were visiting the Japan pavilion the other day, we realized it had been a while since we had tried the Kakigori at the Kabuki Café. This is a fun, traditional Japanese shaved ice treat with lots of options, and we want to let you in on the secrets of this sweet and refreshing treat!
Kabuki Café at the Japan pavilion in World Showcase offers a variety of different items. You can grab sushi, sake slushies, Kakigori, and a variety of beverages at this stand.
We specifically stopped by to try out the Kakigori! Kakigori is Japanese shaved ice with authentic imported Japanese syrup. You can get a single flavor, two flavors, or a rainbow of flavors in either a regular or large size for various prices. Then, you can add toppings to your shaved ice for an additional charge based on the number of toppings and the size of your Kakigori.
You can get the following flavors:
- Blue Hawaii
- Kyoho Grape
- Lemon
- Melon
- Strawberry
- Rainbow
The topping options include:
- Sweet Milk
- Coconut Créme
- Pineapple Créme
- Strawberry Créme
- Mandarin Orange
We decided to get a large bowl with Blue Hawaii, lemon, and strawberry syrups topped with pineapple and coconut crèmes, and mandarin oranges. We weren’t really sure how it was going to taste with all those flavors, but we knew it was going to be pretty! 🤩 This combination cost us $16.25.
We were VERY happy to find out that this was, in fact, both beautiful and delicious! We got a layered mix of tropical and classic flavors that somehow all worked together. The lemon and strawberry didn’t stand out on their own, but the mandarin orange slices added real fruit flavor and texture that balanced everything out. The oranges gave the snack authenticity, where it used to rely almost entirely on sugar syrups and artificial flavoring.
It’s basically the biggest snow cone in the world, and how could we not love that? We had second thoughts about all the flavors we picked (the Cast Members helped me choose them based on how they’d look in photos), but this turned out so much better than we expected. You definitely get piña colada vibes from the coconut and pineapple crèmes, but there’s enough variety from the other syrups to keep it from tasting like a one-note resort bar drink.
Is it shareable? Sure. Did our reporter eat the whole thing by themselves very quickly? Absolutely. It started melting toward the end of the photos, and they ended up drinking the rest, and it was fantastic. This is such a fun and refreshing way to experience this iconic EPCOT treat, and now with so many flavors in one bowl, it finally feels as over-the-top as it deserves to be.
If you’re roaming around World Showcase on a hot day, we definitely recommend stopping by Kabuki Café for some Kakigori! It’s a fun and flavorful treat that will help you cool off.

I’ll stick with the traditional melon with sweet milk, thank you.
But the choice of more options is good.
BTW, how do the small and large sizes compare to when there WAS only one size not too long ago?
