The Disney World Monorail may be one of the most beloved forms of transportation at the resort. However, sometimes things do go wrong. We’ve seen issues where the Monorail has temporarily closed, and well, these things happen.
However, this morning, a fire was reported on the Disney World monorail by @CHRIS_MAGIC_DCL, although by the time it was reported, it seems the fire has been put out.
Chris reported that the Monorail suffered from an electrical fire this morning that included “quite a bit of smoke,” as well as a smell “like burning electrical insulation coming out between the cars.” However, by the time photos were taken of the incident, it seemed the fire was successfully put out. The Monorail in question seemed to be the Express train. The walking path to Magic Kingdom is also currently closed due to the incident.

Thanks to David Wieczerzak, we also got some photos of the incident. This photo shows people waiting for the boat at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa after the Monorail stopped.
You can see which part of the Monorail was affected in this photo:
You can see the smoke in the following photo:

So if you’re taking the Monorail this morning, you may want to expect it to be closed. If this was the Express Monorail, as believed, that means you’ll need to take an alternate route to get from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom. At present, we assume the boat to Magic Kingdom is still running.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details and, we’ll get those to you when we have them, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
