It’s no secret that Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is one of the most beautiful resorts in Disney World. It’s GORGEOUS. Of course, it’s a deluxe hotel, so you pay extra for the feeling you’re staying in an actual lodge in a national park. The resort also offers several ways to get around Disney World, including boat transportation…but that’s about to change soon.

If you’re hoping to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge on or after January 12th, you may have to resort to just taking buses to the parks, including Magic Kingdom, because the docks at Wilderness Lodge will be closing soon for refurbishment.
From January 12th, 2026 through April 2026, the boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be undergoing routine maintenance. The good news is that the boat to Magic Kingdom won’t be closed for TOO long: from January 12th through January 30th. So if you’re staying at the hotel during that time, you’ll have to take a bus to Magic Kingdom instead.

That’s not all that’s going on at Wilderness Lodge, though. The hotel, along with Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, is undergoing refurbishment through late 2026. This construction work could limit views at the hotel, as well as mean you’ll see and hear construction during the daytime hours. Most amenities at the hotel are still open, though, so it shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.

We received no notification from Disney when we booked that any construction was going on at Wilderness lodge! If we had known we would not be going to Disney this year! Let’s increase ticket prices and keep closing more rides. Now the resort too. I am not happy with Disney communication. They knew this was coming and say something less than 2 months before it is going to happen. I am sorry I am wasting all this money for a not so magical experience.
Just spent a week at Wilderness and was very disappointed the the boat service. No resort launch until 3pm daily is terrible. There always used to be 2 water transportation launches on bay lake. Now you cannot get to the Contemporary to catch the Monorail to Epcot without going to the MK first. Besides waiting for the boat, then getting on the monorail, it adds 30 minutes or more to your trip. You used to be able to catch a launch to the Contemporary every 10 minutes from Wilderness. Terrible guest service.
