When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle-of-the-road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well.
We recently stopped by Maya Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here!
Atmosphere
Located in Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Maya Grill offers dinner à la carte and celebrates the tastes of “Nuevo Latino.” The decor is reminiscent of a grand Mexican dining room. Keep alert to see many Mayan motifs of fire, sun, and water.
Hand-crafted cocktails (and even a Margarita Flight) are served along with an expansive menu including empanadas, Fajita Skillets, tacos, and enchiladas among the offerings. Look for Chef Specialties that serve two for a shareable, yet hearty, option.
Maya Grill is an “under-the-radar” restaurant and can usually be visited without a reservation — but we recommend making one anyway, because you never know! This restaurant is typically open for dinner only, so keep that in mind if you’re looking to dine here.
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
Here, you’ll find plenty of savory eats in the form of Mexican cuisine. Featuring tons of traditional platters and chef’s specialties, fans of good Mexican food will have plenty to choose from.
This dinner a la carte promises the tastes of “Nuevo Latino” with offerings that will satisfy most palates, and even serves up hand-crafted cocktails — and even a Margarita Flight — alongside favorites such as empanadas, fajita skillets, tacos, and enchiladas.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
We kicked things off with the Chips Duo for $12. This appetizer is served with freshly made crispy tortilla chips paired with a house-made chipotle salsa and queso blanco.
We were big fans of the queso blanco and felt it was definitely above average. We’d even say it’s in the running for one of the best queso blancos you can find anywhere in Disney World. It’s creamy, yet smooth, and super easy to dip your chip into. Our server said it’s made with mozzarella and Oaxaca, and that combination is phenomenal. The mozzarella gives it that creamy texture, while the Oaxaca brings that sharp cheese flavor, as well as a hint of nutiness.
We also got some jalapeño flavor, and we could see little pieces of jalapeño throughout, but we didn’t think it was all too spicy.
The chipotle salsa was very thin, runny, and smooth. We’re not gonna lie — this one packs a little heat. It was hot initially and lingered in our mouths, but didn’t stay too long. This is a good introductory salsa for people who aren’t sure how they’ll handle spice because it doesn’t linger for too long, and it’s not incredibly strong. If you like a little bit of heat or you want something mild, this is probably the dip for you. If you’re totally spice adverse, avoid at all costs.
As for the chips, ours were perfect. They were a little on the thicker side with a good crunch and had a lovely golden look. They also held together nicely when dipped.
Next up, we ordered the Baja Fish Tacos, which are made with beer-battered fish served with napa cabbage, charred pineapple salsa, and chipotle aioli in flour tortillas for $28.
We’ve tried so many fish tacos all over Disney World, and we’d like to say these are the best…but they simply aren’t. The fish here is so fried that it falls into fish and chips territory. We honestly wish they were fresher tasting, and the oil and fried skin took away some flavor. The cabbage and the pineapple salsa added some really nice balance of flavors and textures that we really enjoyed, and they really lightened the dish up, however.
We also think there was too much chipotle aioli lathered on that made it too messy with an overwhelming chipotle flavor, when, really, this should have been a balance of spicy, sweet, and savory. Instead, it was on the spicier side. These tacos are solid, but nothing special.
The Ossobucco Al Pastor was next on our list, and it’s available for $43. This dish is made with tender braised pork ossobuco in al pastor style, served over creamy hominy grits, finished with pineapple salsa, pastor sauce, and fresh cilantro.
With this high price tag, we were hoping to be blown away. Fortunately, we thought it was very, very good! You get a huge hunk of meat on the bone, and it’s topped with cilantro, pineapple, and sauce. One of the most tender pieces of pork we’ve ever had, the meat falls off the bone with just a little poke of the fork. It’s also super juicy and has a great added taste thanks to the rich tomato flavor of the sauce.
A little sweet, a little earthy — this dish has it all. The pineapple and cilantro bring a little bit of a brighter flavor to it, and it’s topped over tasty, smooth, creamy, and cheesy grits that absorb the sauce beautifully. Overall, this gets a big thumbs up from us!
Of course, we had to get dessert, too, so we ordered the Cajeta Stuffed Fried Churros for $16. This dessert is made with churros filled with cajeta, vanilla ice cream, seasonal berries, galleta María crumble, and chocolate sauce.
Cajeta is a Mexican-like caramel that is made from goat’s milk, and these churros are served in a stack of four. They’re topped with vanilla ice cream, and then each churro is stuffed with the cajeta, giving you plenty of that caramel goodness on the inside of each churro. The chocolate sauce was very rich, very creamy, and offered a more cocoa-forward flavor. We thought it paired really well with the churros.
We thought they were a smidge over-fried, but that would probably vary depending on the batch that you get. Still, the cajeta inside was so creamy and rich with a smooth milky flavor. Gorgeous and delicious, we recommend trying these churros at least once!
Which brings us to our overall thoughts…
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You love Mexican food! This is one of the better options at Disney World, and we’ve really enjoyed the cuisine here.
- You’re looking for elevated Disney World food. Sure, you can opt for something quick and easy, but there’s no denying the quality at Maya Grill.
- You’re staying at Coronado Springs. Hey, if you already have a room at the hotel, the decision to eat here is an easy one.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You don’t want to make the trek over to Coronado Springs. If you’re not staying at this resort and don’t want to travel here, you can always opt for something in the theme parks, like La Cantina de San Angel in EPCOT.
- You’re on a budget. Prices can get kinda expensive here, and that doesn’t factor in tips and tax. If you’re looking to save a buck or two, quick-service restaurants are always your best bet.
- You don’t care for Mexican food. We enjoy this menu quite a bit, but we also recognize it’s probably not the best for the pickiest of eaters. Rix Sports Bar & Grill might be a better bet with its American-centered cuisine.
Overall
We were pretty happy with almost everything we tried! We felt the pricing was justified, and the ambience was awesome. We especially loved how a live guitarist played romantic music from Disney movies, and the views around sunset took our breath away. If you’re looking for a great date spot, this is a fantastic choice!
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

The food here is great! I’d stay at the resort more often if it wasn’t so big. I could never find my room and the bus pick ups were too far away.
Our favorite resort, have stayed there over 20 times. Everything about the food at all the restaurants is great if one likes the southwest menu. The resort is no larger than Caribbean Beach, Saratoga Springs, Riverside/Port Orleans and other resorts.
