Holiday snacks have arrived in Disney World, and that means we’re running around from parks to hotels to Disney Springs with full bellies and Tupperware in hand.
Over the next few days and weeks, dozens of treats will pop up across the property, and we’ll be trying a BUNCH of them. Recently, we made a trip to Disney Springs to try several snacks, and we’re here to give you the roundup!
Amorette’s Patisserie
First up, we’re taking you with us to Amorette’s Patisserie to try three new treats! The Christmas Present Cake Bar is a gingerbread cake combined with milk chocolate mousse and caramel crispy pearls for $8.75.
The gingerbread flavor was strong here, but the chocolate kind of gets lost underneath that. The chocolate exterior was nice and creamy to add to the moist and fluffy texture of the cake. The crispy pearls added a pretzel-like element that stood out texture-wise. Honestly, this was our favorite of the three!
Next up was the Butterscotch Christmas Candy, made with butterscotch mousse, brown butter cake, and salted caramel crispy pearls for $8.50. The mousse was light and fluffy in the middle with a strong butterscotch flavor, but that’s where our enjoyment of this treat stopped.
The brown butter cake was really dry and didn’t have much flavor outside of vanilla. The outside of the treat is gelatinous and sticky, and that kind of throws off the textures of the treat overall.
Last here, we had the Snowman Pastry, which is cookies and cream mousse, chocolate brownie, and dark chocolate crispy pearls. He’s such a gentleman in his top hat that we had to name him — say hello to Franklin Milton Snowington III.
The mousse on top is thick and tastes like smashed Oreos mixed with milk, giving it a creamy and fluffy texture. The brownie on the bottom was fairly dry, but the moisture in the mousse helped to combat it. The crispy pearls hidden inside add some interesting texture, and all in all, this was a fairly good treat. (WARNING: Snowman massacre in the photo below! We’re so sorry, Frank!)
So for Amorette’s, we’d definitely recommend the Christmas Present Cake Bar as our favorite!
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in The Landing is transforming into Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar for the season…that means a new menu! They have a few different items that we tried, starting with the Cookies with Eggnog for $27. This is eggnog with Siesta Key Spiced Rum served with a tree sugar cookie, a snickerdoodle swirl cookie, and a chocolate-peppermint cookie.
In the eggnog, the alcohol flavor is STRONG, along with a little bit of cinnamon and heat in the background. It’s not too spicy, but it’s definitely spiced.
The tree cookie is a fairly traditional sugar cookie with a thick dough and lots of icing. The icing is hard on the outside but fluffy on the inside. You might walk away from this one covered in green dye, but if you love traditional sugar cookies, it’s a MUST.
The snickerdoodle swirl cookie didn’t have as much cinnamon sugar flavor as we would’ve expected. It really just tasted like a basic sugar cookie. It had some crunch from the sugar on the outside and was nice and soft in the middle.
The chocolate-peppermint cookie reminded us of an Andes Mint or a peppermint patty with a small amount of royal icing and crushed peppermints. This one was nice and chewy with some chocolate pieces in the middle.
Next on our list were the Boughs of Holly Deviled Eggs, deviled eggs with sweet potato filling, fried chicken, herbed butter, cranberry, and parsley for $17. They didn’t have much sweet potato flavor, but were heavy on the garlic butter.
The fried chicken adds a bit of crispiness with the breading and some salty, savory flavor with the meat. We were very impressed with how these held up for such a small portion on each egg (they’re bite-sized!).
After that was the A Wreath of Wellington for $19. It’s strip steak, mushroom duxelles, Gruyère, puff pastry, herbed parmesan, and horseradish-mustard aïoli. This is one of those dishes that you’ll want to eat fresh, because it’s a flaky pastry with large chunks of meat throughout.
It stayed intact and easy to eat, and that horseradish was the perfect accompaniment with creamy texture and tangy flavor. The cheese in the pastry itself had a lovely, crunchy texture. We would definitely order this again!
The other item we tried was the Turkey Egg Rolls, which are turkey egg rolls with sweet-and-sour cranberry dipping sauce. These are $16. They were crunchy on the outside with a filling that was the perfect epitome of a Thanksgiving dinner.
The turkey was juicy, and the rest of the filling was reminiscent of stuffing. The cranberry sauce on the side was exceptionally sweet with a strong cranberry flavor and a hint of orange. We really enjoyed these!
We definitely give Jock Lindsey’s two thumbs up this holiday season, so make sure to check it out if you love themed bars!
Vivoli il Gelato
Our last stop in Disney Springs is Vivoli il Gelato, where we ordered the Peppermint Affogato for $11. It’s made with vanilla gelato, espresso, and crushed peppermint.
The creamy and smooth texture of the vanilla gelato here helps cut back on the punchiness of espresso as a flavor, and even non-coffee drinkers may not hate it. The peppermint flavor seeps into the beverage as you sip it, even though the cup was a little difficult to drink from.
That’s a wrap on our snacks for now, but we’ll be sharing MORE reviews with you as we try treats around Disney World!
