Some people like to be home for the holidays. That’s nice. NOT US! You can catch us celebrating the holidays at Disney World or Universal Orlando. There’s just so much to see and do around the holiday season! So, with the holidays coming up soon, you might be planning a trip to Universal Orlando.
Like we said, the holidays are a great time to visit Universal, especially with all the fun holiday decorations, the chance to meet The Grinch (a personal favorite meet and greet of ours!), and to enjoy some fun holiday snacks. However, if you are visiting Universal this holiday season, you might need to be aware of some closures at Volcano Bay, Universal’s water park, because it will be closed on 12 select dates in November and December.
According to Universal Orlando’s online calendar, Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay will be closed on both November 12th and 13th, so if you had plans to visit the water park on those days, you may need a new game plan. However, Volcano Bay has more closures coming up after that through the end of the year.
Volcano Bay will also be closed on the following dates: November 26th, December 3rd, December 4th, December 8th, December 9th, December 17th, December 18th, December 22nd, December 23rd, and December 30th. That’s a total of 12 days when the water park will be closed. Note that the park may also close due to the weather, so check the forecast before your visit.
As we previously reported, Volcano Bay will also have a seasonal closure beginning on October 26th, 2026, with a planned reopening on or before March 24th, 2027. Universal has plans to do regular maintenance on several attractions and areas in the water park during that time.

In other water park news, Universal recently discontinued virtual queues at the water park, as well as the use of the TapuTapu bands (sort of like free MagicBands you get at the park to tap into virtual queues). Look out for that change on your next visit!
