Some partnerships just make perfect sense. Disney X LEGO? That’s a match made in toy heaven. Benson Boone X Crumbl Cookies? We see the vision. But the latest pop culture partnership — Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs X Six Flags theme parks — is quite the surprise.

On October 21st, the JANA Partners investment firm announced it is partnering with Travis Kelce (who is currently engaged to Taylor Swift, by the way) to “enhance shareholder value and improve the guest experience” at Six Flags theme parks.
Kelce released a statement on social media, reading, “To all my fellow theme park and amusement park lovers. I have some exciting news!!! Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to continue the tradition and make Cedar Point and Six Flags even more special for the next generation of families! Excited to partner with JANA Partners as an investor in Six Flags. So crazy to even imagine this is real, but you gotta love it when life comes full circle.”

As it turns out, Kelce has been a fan of theme parks — specifically Six Flags — for a long time. In a new press release, he stated, “I am a lifelong Six Flags fan and grew up going to these parks with my family and friends,” adding, “The chance to help make Six Flags special for the next generation is one I couldn’t pass up.”

In a New Heights podcast episode, Kelce further detailed his love of theme parks. Kelce was raised in Ohio and grew up going to Cedar Point amusement park. Cedar Point’s parent company is Cedar Fair, which merged with Six Flags in 2024. Kelce’s brother, Jason, explains on the New Heights podcast that “Cedar Point is rollercoaster U.S.A.,” adding, “It is the premier roller coaster amusement park in the country.”

This news comes amid a flurry of headlines about Six Flags theme parks closing around the U.S.
Several Six Flags locations have announced closures, including Six Flags America in Maryland and Six Flags Great America in California (unless they extend their lease). Four other theme parks have been closed by the company in the past:
- Six Flags AstroWorld was located in Houston, Texas
- Six Flags AutoWorld theme park in Flint, Michigan
- Six Flags New Orleans
- Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom
Six Flags CEO Richard Zimmerman announced plans to step down by the end of the year following low second-quarter earnings; the company reported a $100 million loss within three months.
Why Six Flags Had To Close 7 Theme Parks
Could this new partnership boost profits for Six Flags? Kelce has not revealed how he plans to work with the company going forward. Kelce and the JANA Partners investment firm collectively own about 9% of the economic interest in the Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.
