In case you missed it, there are major ride changes coming to Disneyland and Disney World next summer.
Soarin’ Around the World is flying away, and we’re welcoming Soarin’ Across America in its place. When a beloved attraction undergoes a change, Disney fans will always express their feelings, and we’ve gathered some of our favorite responses to these changes.
Coming summer 2026, the new show will have iconic elements that make Soarin’ as amazing as it is, including the flight, the sights, the score, and even the scents. The Walt Disney Imagineering team is already hard at work capturing new scenes for the show.
Both coasts are getting the change in Disney California Adventure and EPCOT for this celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
When going through the comments on Disney Parks’ Instagram and our very own Disney Food Blog page, it seems like a lot of people are questioning…why. Some say, “We want California back,” and Soarin’ Over California, the original version, is usually the fan favorite. We’ve seen it come back for seasonal festivals, but it hasn’t consistently been around in a while.
One person commented, saying, “I hope Sam Eagle gets invited to do the pre-show with Patrick,” and we can’t help but agree! With the closure of MuppetVision, the Muppets are moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and we’re hoping Sam Eagle made the move. If not, we’ll be pretty thrilled to see him and Patrick Warburton, who did the preshow safety spiel together.
Others say, “Can we pick a different country?” Some are concerned because a majority of the guests coming to Disneyland and Disney World are from the United States. These guests have seen these sights and don’t want to go on a ride to see what they’re already familiar with.
A few also said “glad it’s temporary,” but some are happy that there will be no more wonky Eiffel Tower. Do you think we’re still getting a wonky Statue of Liberty?
Now it’s your turn! Tell us what you think of this change in the comments, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more.

I thought the update was awesome. I can’t wait to see it, and I wasn’t planning to visit in 2026. I will definitely visit once it’s in place.
I think it’s great!! I am so excited to be alive during such an event as the 250th year of our country!! I have only explored so much of America in my time on Earth, and I think this is amazing so I can see what I wanna see in the future 😆 ! We need some change and people need to relax, Disney is always changing, and you don’t have to ride if you don’t want to!
I LOVE the idea! It’s a great way to honor our country’s 250th anniversary. This may be the new thing that makes me want to go back after a 2 year hiatus of feeling ambivalent about Disney World. We should be showcasing US sites to other countries (and Americans) so they get a peek of what they could visit in person.
A lot of blithering nitwits want to make *everything* political. I’m ecstatic that Disney is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States with such a wonderful special treat. Kudos to all of the Disney imagineers who made this possible, and we’ll see you all in the sky.
I think the USA will be great! It should be interesting..
They really missed the chance to call it “Soarin’ Around the World, but Mostly America!”
As a Californian, I’d really prefer a new updated California trip.
Not that I was asked.
I’m super excited about this. People just like being negative online. Going at the beginning of June, hope it’s open then!
I am thrilled that Soarin is highlighting America on our anniversary celebration. I am proud to showcase this country to the rest of the world and no one does it better than Disney.
Wonderful!!! The best country in the world is having her 250th birthday!!! So happy to see that Disney is celebrating the USA!!!
Happy to see something new on Soarin’ as well. Hopefully, they update the other shows with new scenery, too
There are 3 theaters. Give guests a choice and put “World” at one gate, “California” at another, and “America” at the third gate. The only requirement would be additional cast to open all three gates.
From the UK, I’m pleased with this announcement , the soarin around the world kinda sucked! California was great. But this could be even better, but please Patrick has to stay ! If it’s temporary then film another one around the world with actual camera’s . What ever Disney do, please please make the use of the amazing sound system they have, remember the fighter planes in C.A , that was awesome . Hope to see it in sept 26
I think it’s wonderful Disney is celebrating America. Nothing wrong with that especially when we’re about to celebrate 250 years of our military. Let’s celebrate happy!

My family has been considering a trip to California next summer so this is helping tip the scales towards Yes! I think it’s great that Disney is doing something to celebrate our country’s milestone birthday. It’s exactly what Walt would have done.
I think it’s great that we are getting a chance to see the USA. I have never travelled the country and there are iconic sights that would be amazing to see. People from other countries would enjoy this, especially if their trip to the US is only for Disney Parks.
On another article from DFB when this was first announced every comment was positive. How come we suddenly find all negative comments described in this article? Once again everyone that has commented on this latest article have put positive comments. Personally, I like the fact that the theatre was built with future proofing in mind and that the shows can be changed.
This is one of my all time favorite rides!!! I will ride it no matter where it takes me. I love the feeling of flying, the smells, the music, the adventure of going to a dozen places within a few minutes. I don’t care if I’ve seen those places before, it brings back memories of past trips and makes me smile when I recognize a landmark. And any time we can showcase America I thing we should.
I also agree about Sam Eagle. As soon as I heard the announcement (I was excited to see Patrick back) but my first thought was, they need Sam Eagle for this one.
Hoping that, though it’s intended to be temporary, that it hands around a while as I won’t have a trip planned till 2027 (with my grandgirls) and would LOVE to see this version.
That said, I find it humorous that in the article it mentions people commenting that most guests to DL and WDW are from the U.S. and don’t need to see this. That the “World” is a better fit, yet they also claim to want Soarin’ over CA back. Um, okay.
I get sentimental about Disney attractions and my heart hurts when they are taken away or rethemed. But this one is the exception. I love that we can soar over new sights, sounds and smells from time to time.
