Travelers, we’re FINALLY getting a change in our flights that we actually want to see. As frequent flyers ourselves, we’ve spent a lot of time trying to break up the monotony of a long, cramped flight, and we’ve even come across a few products we refuse to fly without in our future travels. But in a world where so much is changing so quickly, Southwest is offering FREE WiFi to some of its passengers, and it’s happening soon!
Lots of changes have shaken up the way you may have remembered flying with Southwest. Over the past few months, Southwest Airlines has been adding new flight routes, offering promotions for cheap flights, and even switching to an assigned seating policy similar to most other airlines.

Earlier this year, Southwest Airlines announced plans to continue to shake up its offerings to passengers, and that included the addition of a few perks added to eligible flyers. If you belong to Southwest’s Rapid Rewards Program, there’s a new perk coming this week that might make your next flight even easier!

Beginning October 24th, Rapid Rewards Members will now receive free WiFi on unlimited eligible devices during their flights. The WiFi service will be provided through T-Mobile. This means that rewards members in the program will no longer have to pay extra to be able to stream apps, play games, continue their business communications, and more while in the air.

This new perk comes as the latest addition to a whole line of enhancements Southwest is making to improve its customer experience. “Evolving is part of our ethos, and we have done so successfully time after time, there’s so much to look forward to,” said Bob Jordan (President, CEO, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors).

In addition to the free WiFi perk, passengers will also have access to in-seat power ports and larger overhead bins on all new 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Southwest states they’re already in the process of adding them to their existing planes. The free WiFi perk will be extended to eligible passengers throughout the entire fleet, and Southwest is updating its app to include features to make your day of travel even easier to navigate.
We can easily see this new perk making flying even more comfortable for all kinds of passengers traveling for business, solo, group trips, or with their families. It’s nice to see an airline company continuing to evaluate what perks passengers want and will use to maximize their value and time spent during their flight. We’re always keeping up with the latest travel news, updates, and more, so be sure to check back in with us soon for the latest!
