Disney World isn’t the only U.S. resort getting a ton of updates: Disneyland is getting ready to make way for some huge expansions, too.
We’ve already seen Downtown Disney get some new restaurants…with more on the way. A new Coco ride will be coming soon to Disney California Adventure. A brand-new Avatar land is also on the way, as well as a MASSIVE Avengers Campus expansion with two new rides. Disneyland is also planning a new parking and transportation hub, and a new permit shows that work for that hub might be starting soon.
Disneyland has filed a new permit for the east side of the resort, where the new parking and transportation hub will be located. Currently, this spot is the Manchester Cast Member lot. The new space will provide around 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle drop-off and pickup areas, dedicated spots for rideshare services, security screening, and easier access into and out of the hub.
The permit is for the “East Esplanade” to install a 15-foot-long by 8-foot-high chain link fence, as well as a 128-foot-long and 8-foot-high wooden fence in that area. This will mark the first construction on the new parking and transportation hub.
Of course, this isn’t the only construction happening in Disneyland. The Avengers Campus expansion in California Adventure is also currently underway. That expansion will bring two more rides to the land and double the size of Avengers Campus (so exciting for us Marvel fans, right?).
In 2026, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue will close to make way for the new Avatar land. Disney also recently confirmed that the new Coco ride will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier in an area that is currently a backstage location. Disneyland might not have a lot of extra land for expansion, but Imagineers have figured out how to work with the land they have.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more construction updates in Disneyland, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
