When you’re missing your home away from home (Disney World), Trader Joe’s has you covered!
We’re OBSESSED with Disney snacks, and we know we’re not alone. EPCOT, in particular, has some of the best, and we often find ourselves daydreaming about some of the park’s tasty treats. While they won’t taste exactly the same, Trader Joe’s has plenty of similar snacks that take us back to places like the Germany pavilion, scratching that Disney itch even when we’re sitting at home!
The Germany pavilion at EPCOT has lots and lots of our favorite snacks, including the Jumbo Pretzel from Sommerfest and Caramel Popcorn and the Werther’s Original Gingerbread Salted Caramel Cookie Sandwich at Karamell-Küche, among others. While it’s tough to get the genuine thing when we’re far away from EPCOT, Trader Joe’s does have a few snacks that get the job done.
We often crave soft pretzels, but Trader Joe’s has us covered with Soft Pretzel Twists! These delicious twists are made by actual German pretzel experts, “who use a blend of wheat flour and malted barley flour to achieve that signature, plenty savory and slightly sweet Pretzel flavor.” Each twist is snack-sized and can be moistened with water, allowing you to salt them before sticking them in the oven and then enjoying! Whenever we can’t get our giant EPCOT pretzel, these guys certainly do the trick.
You won’t find any lack of tasty cheese dips in the Germany pavilion, and if you’re craving some at home, check out the Raclette Sliced Cheese at Trader Joe’s! It comes “sliced and ready to melt over anything you desire, from potatoes and other starches to asparagus, quick-pickled onions, sliced Honeycrisp Apples, or even the contents of our Spicy Uncured Charcuterie Selection.” All you need to do is give them a quick three to five minutes under the broiler, or melt the cheese in a heavy frying pan or skillet, and voila, homemade cheese dip!
Sauerkraut and German food go hand-in-hand, and Trader Joe’s certainly has plenty to offer in that department, such as the Sauerkraut with Pickled Persian Cucumbers! The pickled cucumbers are sliced into thin rounds, “lending extra texture to the kraut and providing just a little yummy pickle flavor.” Utilizing all-natural fermentation, you’ll get plenty of tart and tangy flavors with this one, as well as an extra crispy crunch. Use this treat to top off your hot dogs, put together a Reuben, make a slaw, or whatever your heart desires!
If you’re missing some Werther’s candy from Karamell-Küche, Dark Chocolate Covered Caramels can hold you over until your next visit! Rich, buttery, and sweet, these caramels are made “with a super sweet and enchantingly chewy square of lightly salted, vanilla-tinged Caramel”, and then coated with a layer of dark chocolate. Delightfully bitter yet sweet, these treats go well with dessert boards or on their own.
You can find these snacks and so much more on Trader Joe’s website, and continue to follow us here at the Disney Food Blog for all sorts of Disney World food tips, hacks, updates, reviews, and more!
