No matter how hard you plan, things might still pop up on your Disney World vacation that you weren’t expecting. That’s why it’s always a good idea to pay attention to the latest closures!
Kali River Rapids
If you’ve got an upcoming trip to Disney World planned, we need to warn you about an imminent ride closure at Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom.
Kali River Rapids in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom will close on October 6th and is expected to reopen sometime in December. However, an official reopening date has not been announced.

We typically see this closure happen during the winter months, but it’s taking place a bit earlier than normal this year.
As the name suggests, Kali River Rapids is a river rapids ride — meaning you will definitely get wet! We recommend bringing an extra pair of clothes or shoes and being prepared to throw on your rain poncho if you’re planning on riding it before it goes under refurbishment.

Earlier in September, we had to say goodbye to the Boneyard, DinoLand USA’s playground, as it closed to make way for the Tropical Americas transformation, Pueblo Esperanza. DinoLand is currently closing in phases, and the final areas of the land will be closing on February 2nd, 2025.

Don’t forget that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and Spaceship Earth will all be closed through October as well.
