What's a Giga-Dive Roller Coaster, and Why Am I Terrified?

Alright, roller coaster mega-fans, we’ve got some news that you will NOT want to miss.

We’re looking forward to the refurbishment and retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year (well, some of us are), but if you’re located closer to the center of the U.S., you’ll want to check out this new coaster coming to Six Flags Over Texas in 2026. However, we’ve gotta admit, we’re pretty terrified of it.

UPI has reported that Six Flags Over Texas is getting a NEW coaster in 2026 called Tormenta Rampaging Run, and it’s going to set SIX RECORDS for roller coasters. The theme park says that this will be the tallest, fastest, longest, and first “giga-dive coaster” that is more than 300 feet tall.

The coaster’s 309-foot maximum elevation will break a world record, and the main descent will rocket passengers forward at 87 mph, making it the world’s fastest coaster. The dive coaster will also be the world’s longest coaster at 4,199 feet, and will have multiple weightless moments and twists and turns that are supposed to replicate the running of the bulls.

The coaster will also have:

The world’s tallest vertical loop at 179 feet
The highest Immelmann inversion that carries passengers upside down and 218 feet above ground
A 95-degree beyond-vertical drop, plunging riders 285 feet

So yeah, this sounds pretty terrifying, but coaster fanatics will want to check it out ASAP when it opens next year. As of right now, there’s no official opening date, but we do know it’ll be sometime in the next calendar year, which will celebrate the park’s 65th year of operation.
