Imagine this: you’re all ready to go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom. You bought your tickets months ago, and it’s the day of the party.
But this is Florida, and that means weather can sneak up on you. Imagine that it rains so much during the party that it affects pretty much ALL of the party activities, including the fireworks, parade, and all outdoor rides. Well, if rain ruins your Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party experience, Disney WILL make it up to you, which is what happened to us this week.
So here’s what happens when rain all but ruins an extra ticketed event like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. You’ll get a rain check, which will pop up as a message on your My Disney Experience app. You’ll be notified that your event ticket has been automatically converted to a 1-day with park hopper ticket valid for up to one year. Note that this ticket does require a park pass reservation.
Of course, this may not be ideal if you had your heart set on experiencing everything Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has to offer. But it is an extra day to visit the parks, so there’s that, right? Of course, if that’s not ideal, you can always visit Guest Services and see if you have other options (like visiting the party another evening, if it’s not sold out). However, this is what we were given this week when our party was essentially rained out.
Note that you’re only entitled to compensation if weather causes significant issues at the party. If it’s just a light drizzle or rain, the party will keep on going, so you’ll want to make sure you check the forecast before you head to Magic Kingdom (and bring a raincoat or poncho, if you might need it).

Wow… those party tickets are expensive, often much more than prices you can find for park tickets even with park hopper. We usually have tickets that will already let us visit the parks all the days that we can, usually with park hopper, so this would literally be nothing for us in return for those party tickets. Good to know. We’ve been lucky with the weather when we’ve had party tickets. One more reason to avoid hurricane season!
We were at that same Halloween party this week. We are annual passholders so the ticket really doesn’t benefit us. We went to Guest Relations and were given the option of a $105 Disney gift card instead of the ticket.
And what about passholders that don’t need a ticket? Do they allow for another event on another day? Or within the next year?
Typically, we have seen them either let you reschedule for a different party as long as it hasn’t been sold out or they can issue a refund/gift card at Guest Services. It’s always worth talking to them about to see what your options are at that time.
