TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of the most popular rides in Magic Kingdom, but sometimes I run into problems when I ride it.
Whether it’s the ridiculously long wait times, struggles with the lockers, or difficulties with the (in my opinion) uncomfortable seating situation, this ride can be a fairly unique experience. But recently, I encountered some problems with the lockers before hopping on the coaster, and I’m here to share with you the solutions I discovered!
Ticket Card Issues
The first problem I witnessed at the lockers was a couple who were using MagicMobile on their phones and didn’t have physical ticket cards with them for park entry. I’ve personally had this issue in the past and was able to share with them a solution.
In order to open the lockers to stow your belongings before boarding the ride, you’ll need a ticket card. If you don’t have one on you, you can simply flag down the nearest Cast Member (there are employees stationed specifically to help with the lockers) and they’ll give you a blank card to use.
From there, you just put your belongings in and take the card with you while you ride. If you don’t have any pockets, there’s a small compartment on the front of your lightcycle for items like cards and phones.
Bags Too Big
For a while now, I’ve been using a backpack spacer in the theme parks. It helps distribute the weight of your backpack and keeps back sweat to a minimum, but it also makes fitting my backpack into lockers rather difficult.
And if you’re like me, carrying a massive bag, I’ve got the answer for what happens to your belongings while you ride TRON.
If your bag doesn’t fit, let a Cast Member at the locker station know, and then you’ll carry it to the boarding area. From there, another Cast Member will direct you to a space where you can set your bag while you ride. It will be left unmonitored during that time, and you’ll be able to pick it back up after you ride.
Something Gets Stuck
For me I managed to finally squeeze my backpack into the lockers for my ride on TRON, but when I got back, I realized that my straps had gotten stuck in the locker door on the other side. (You reopen the lockers from the opposite side of the wall.) Even though I could get the door open, I couldn’t get the bag out!
Once again, the answer is to flag down one of the locker workers! A Cast Member was able to get the locker number from me, then go around to the opposite side and open the door to push my backpack through. Cast Members are the BEST.
So if you’re heading to TRON Lightcycle / Run soon and worried about the locker situation, this will hopefully put you at ease!

I’ve never had to use a ticket card. Is this new? We have always used our Magic bands so I’m wondering if that’s the difference.
I wish I had known this before I stuffed–with trouble–my backpack into a locker, lol. After having issues with it on Space Mountain right after, I decided I no longer need such a large bag to schlep into the parks. I bought a smaller one, as my kids are young adults now.
