It’s a big day in Hollywood Studios!

We always hate saying goodbye to an attraction as we welcome more construction walls around Disney World, and today is no exception. While we’re excited about the future of Hollywood Studios, we’re also allowed to be a little sad about the new closure.

Today is the last day to experience Animation Courtyard before it gets turned into The Walt Disney Studios.

Animation Courtyard, including the Disney Jr. Dance Party and Star Wars: Launch Bay, is closing to make way for the new area. The Disney Jr. Dance Party will return as a brand-new show, still themed for Disney Jr. and located in the same building. However, Disney has not announced whether the meet-and-greets and Star Wars memorabilia will be moving to a new location.

During the construction and when The Magic of Disney Animation opens, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure will remain open and welcome guests to join Ariel in the classic story of The Little Mermaid.

What’s coming to the space? A return of classic Hollywood Studios (or, uh, MGM Studios)! Staying true to animation, guests will have the opportunity to attend drawing classes and explore the various departments of an animation studio, where different characters and elements come to life.

There will also be an Alice in Wonderland-inspired playground based on Mary Blair’s original concept art! This playground will be indoors and feature elements from Tulgey Wood. Don’t be surprised if you see me hanging out here all day once it opens.

Outside the building, in the courtyard, you’ll find character meet-and-greets, lush green sections, and trees to enjoy, where you can relax and recover before heading out on the rest of your park day.
