Disney World has frequently revamped its hotel rooms at different resorts throughout the years to keep them fresh and relevant.
Some of these refurbishments have been well-received, like the Polynesian Village Resort room retheme to Moana, but others, like the Contemporary Resort room refurb to The Incredibles, are a bit more controversial. Now, the rooms at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort have been refurbished as well, and we got a look at the updated rooms to help you decide if you’d like to stay there on your next trip.
Construction for these room refurbishments began in September 2024, and has always been scheduled to go through September 2025. In March of this year, we touched base with a Cast Member who told us that at that time that on the south side of the building, rooms 24 to 44 on floors 7 to 16 were all complete. However, now ALL the rooms have completed their refurbishment!
We got the chance to check out one of the newly refurbished rooms to see exactly what there is to offer and what has changed. Let’s give it a look! We toured a 2-Bedroom Villa, which sleeps nine people. As you enter the room, you’ll notice just how large and spacious the living area is — not to mention that theme park view!
There’s a full eat-in kitchen, complete with refrigerator, oven and stove, microwave, and dishwasher. Since this is a Disney Vacation Club room, it features additional amenities, including a decent-sized dining table for families to enjoy meals together. Even though it’s a DVC room, anyone can book this villa and Bay Lake Tower in general!
The living area features a small couch with an ottoman/coffee table and an armchair with retro vibes. It’s easy to see how the renovations from the main Contemporary hotel building have carried over into the theming of these rooms. We love the Mary Blair-inspired artwork. This is also where you’ll find an additional pull-down Murphy bed behind the couch.
Bedroom one has two queen beds, along with its own balcony.
You’ll also find a seating area, desk, dresser, mirror, and television in this room, with its own bathroom.
Bedroom two features a large, king-sized bed and its own balcony as well. There are nightstands with storage, plugs, and nightlights for you to use too.
This bedroom also features a seating area with a chair and a dresser, along with a television. Check out that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad artwork!
The main living area also features a large television and another pull-down twin bed. This villa sleeps up to 9, so there are plenty of beds!
You’ll also find two spacious bathrooms. This one has a separate vanity area with sink, mirror, storage, and toiletries.
There’s a separate room with a shower/tub combo and toilet — and more Mary Blair-inspired art!
Here’s a view of the main living area from the balcony. It’s a pretty spacious room!

So excited for the new design. Love the mid-century design. We are DVC members and Bay Lake is our home resort. We have a trip coming over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Do you by chance have a picture of the main bedroom bathroom? So happy about the lighting in the one bathroom. Hopefully, in the main bedroom bathroom it’s just as nice. The lighting was always terrible in the bathrooms.
Also hope they finally put more than one steak knife and scissors in the villa. What’s up with only offering one knife and no scissors?
I have a studio booked in March and I can not WAIT! love this refurb!!!
Room looks beautiful and spacious. Only thing that caught my attention is there could be more comfy seating in the living area – only a couch and one chair. I know there are dining room chairs but… for 9 people?
Hope to see it myself someday!
We recently stayed in a similar renovated one bedroom villa at Baylake Tower! It was beautiful.
I enjoyed your review, however, it actually missed conveying some important information. The murphy bed in the living room – is it a queen size or a full size bed? Also a picture of the living room with the murphy bed pulled down from the wall would be helpful to see the space in that configuration. Perhaps even an additional photo with both the murphy bed pulled down and the twin size bed in the sleeping position.
Thank you.
We just stayed in a renovated studio and LOVED it! The colors, furnishing and the artwork are lovely.
The changes you show look great too compared to the last time we stayed there in a 2-bedroom unit. This is one of the few, if not only, DVC resort 2-bedroom units that had 3 bathrooms, and I hope it still does. It is very convenient for those staying in the living room area.
What happened to the third bathroom? That was a big draw to these 2 bedroom Villas especially if traveling with teens.
