On September 12th, a smoke alarm went off on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland, prompting the evacuation of several stores and a restaurant.

Sometimes things happen in Disney Parks that you can’t control. There may be emergencies from time to time, and those situations can cause evacuations and closures. We often see rides evacuated and closed, and we recently learned about an incident during the Paint The Night parade where smoke was coming from one of the parade floats. Now, a new evacuation is unfolding in Disneyland, and we have the details. 

When we were visiting Disneyland today, we noticed that the Emporium, one of the main shops on Main Street, U.S.A., was closed. Candy Palace was also closed, along with the restaurant, Carnation Cafe. There were also smoke alarms going off at the time, suggesting that there was smoke in the area.

Eventually, Candy Palace and the Emporium reopened, but Carnation Cafe remains closed. We spoke with Cast Members who told us that an incident occurred and that there was no word yet on when the restaurant would reopen. We’re not sure exactly what happened, but it’s possible that there was a fire in the Carnation Cafe.

If you ever hear fire alarms in a Disney Park, the best thing you can do is follow Cast Member instructions, which will help you evacuate safely with other guests. Cast Members are well-prepared to handle these kinds of things, so make sure you listen to them when emergencies like this arise.
